'Last Comic Standing' judge Greg Giraldo has died, according to his friend and fellow comedian Jim Norton.
"Greg Giraldo passed away today. This is the last photo of us together, taken June 28 at Noam's wedding. RIP buddy," Norton wrote on his Twitter account.
A source told TMZ, "Greg passed away today at the hospital in New Brunswick as a result of an accidental overdose. His family was by his side."
The 44-year-old comedian was hospitalized Saturday.
Giraldo, who recently helped roast David Hasselhoff on Comedy Central, was found unresponsive during a party at his hotel in East Brunswick, New Jersey. "It was like a zoo here," an eyewitness said of the bash, The New York Post reported.
Paramedics resuscitated Giraldo and rushed him to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in nearby New Brunswick.
He was a father of four and has been open about his past substance abuse. Ironically, Giraldo was scheduled to perform at the New York Recovery Rally at Randall's Island Park in NYC earlier on Saturday to mark National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month.

scollie - that's a rather obtuse perspective you have. How do you know Greg Giralo had money? And what makes you believe that kicking a drug habit is easier for people who don't have money? What a dope you are.
yeah, jeannie got it boldier that it WAS accidental. what she was saying was that greg should have thought about his family before taking any drugs. period! why split hairs, he's dead.
Once again, the 'ones' pushing the drugs, selling or otherwise seem to get off the hook and go unnoticed. So easy to play the 'blame game' and accuse him of not thinking of his kids. At some point the poor man did not do drugs. Who introduced him?
Accidental? I love how society always tries to take the responsibility away from where it belongs, with the user. People think if there's no responsibility implied they can do whatever they want. There are consequences for every action, some of them deadly.
The worst part here is because of his partying 4 children are left without a father. It was his choice and nobody else's. Some people just don't use their heads even though they are adults.

Funniest doesn't mean happiest :(
That poor man ... why didn't he think about his kids when he took that accidental overdose?

It was accidental. He wasn't thinking about killing himself. Don't you get it. "Accidental".
Jeannie,
Are you familiar with the term "accidental"? It wasn't intentional.
