Lindsay Lohan's Brother: My Sister's Been Surrounded by Leeches

One day after Lindsay Lohan voluntarily checked herself into rehab, her younger brother Michael Lohan Jr. spoke out in support of his sister in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE. In his opinion, his sister's recovery has been severely hampered by her social circle.

"People she was surrounded by – enablers, leeches, whatever you'd like to call it – made things very difficult," Lohan said. "It's quite strenuous to right your wrongs when the people around you help justify your actions. Therefore, cloudy judgment made it easy for her to neglect those trying to guide her."

"I think that in the past, her vision had been blurred," he added.

Lohan also talked about Lindsay's addiction and her renewed commitment to beating her battle with drugs. "People with addictive tendencies do not get better overnight, so that cannot be expected. However, her commitment to her current recovery is a side effect of the realization of her past mishaps," he told the magazine.

He also said Lindsay, who failed a drug test earlier this month after an early release from jail and rehab, knows she's made mistakes and wants to change. According to him, she's "well-aware that she's at a crossroad in life, and is fully committed to ensuring a healthier future."

Lohan, 22, also said his sister is taking the rehab process seriously and that his family will be there to help her along the way.

"She has made conscious efforts to improve her lifestyle behaviors and to treat this process with great care. In order to continue her healing process, she's willing to take whatever steps necessary," he continued. "We – her mother, brothers, and sister – have been there for Lindsay every step of the way – despite what trashy news reports – and will continue to give her our support and strength during these arduous times."

This is the epidomy of whats wrong with our society. Lindsay seems to have this endless supply of cash to live like a rock star and support an expensive drug habit.
Why do people that entertain us make the millons of dollars? Why do we allow that?
What about that nerdy guy that worked on the digital network that she used to call her drug dealers on? Oh wait; hes laid off; out of work and has his house foreclosed on. Meanwhile the movie stars and entertainers make enough money to last them the rest of their lives. What a sick society we live in.

its funny how lindsay has allthis going on now. before the judge put her in jail she didnt say anything about rehab or her brother wasnt even around. he locked her up but she got out. she knows she pissed fox off by getting bail,and shes going to jail soon. so why not go to rehab,ill cure myself,i wont do drugs,i,wont drink, ill have my family talk good things about me.make the judge believe you.good ofence, is the best defenceits just a ploy,to get sympathy from judge.she stays in rehab,great food,private rooms,visitors all the time,her own clothes,hell id do rehab myself. she not learning anything, just delaying the next time. great acting linsay.......

You sound like your dim-wiited self centered mother...Blame everybody else for her problems...And more importantly, lets all blame everybody else for her breaking the laws and her probation deal...But when your sister was arrested for drugs, alcohol, etc,, sentenced and convicted agreeing to a probation deal instead of jail in the first place...She and she alone was the only one who was arrested and struck this deal to avoid jail in the first place that she did not kept her word to because of her own selfishness...There were no others arrested but her...There were no others who agreed upon her plea bargain and deal with the DA....So she and she alone is to blame for her actions and not the imaginary leeches you have no first hand knowledge of as you were not there from the get go and on the East Coast everytime your sister f-u-c-k-e-d U=p her life.
