In case Justin Timberlake's ability to sing, dance and act ridiculously well didn't give him enough street cred, his recent appearance on 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon' sealed the deal.Timberlake stopped by 'Late Night' to promote his role in the much anticipated, 'The Social Network.' Gushing over the talent of house band, The Roots, launched Timberlake and Fallon into a full blown medley of rap classics from Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight" to Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind," and everything in between.
If Timberlake's rapping chops aren't enough for you, Fallon's attempt at the Soulja Boy 'crank that' dance certainly will be. Watch the hilarious video after the jump!

Wow....LOved It....Made My Day As Well!!!!! They Really Showed Out....On The Real From The Heart....Loved It!!!!! They were rhythmic and on point!
Wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The first rap that was ever done was my Debra Harry of Blondie and the song was Rapture. 1979

The first rap "ever done" was NOT by Debra Harry!!! LOL. Sugarhill's "Rapper's Delight" became a hit in 1979, but the song had obviously been written and performed before that--along with many, many other artists recording "from the hood"! The Sugarhill Gang were the first "mainstream" rappers with a hit song. They were NOT the first rappers.
All wrong, the original rapper was Dr. Seuss...
She was the first female rapper. LOL, you being a teen then has nothing to do with the point that you got your facts wrong and most likely you're a white idiot who thinks that a white female was the first rapper...LMAO you're such an idiot, it kills me! HAHAHAHAAHAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!...so WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!! Right back at ya :)
All of you are wrong. Listen to "Zilch" by The Monkees which was recorded in 1967.
There were lots of underground rappers -- rap is an art form started in the ghetto by African Americans, period. But, the Sugar Hill Gang had the first gold record with a rap song with Rapper's Delight and Curtis Blow had the second gold record with a rap son in the Breaks. But Rapture was the first song that had rap in it to reach the top of the charts. But, Blondie DID NOT start the art form -- they just used it in a rock song and gave the form much deserved attention. The even made reference to rap pioneers Fab Five Freddy and Grand Master Flash in the song acknowledging their contribution in the creation of rap as an art form.
Wrong! It was square dance rapping in the 19th century.
Wrong to you! First rap tune was doen by Aerosmith's walk this way in 1975.
This is awesome! I can't wait to see The Roots's show in Chicago in December. Every video I see featuring them get me more and more pumped!

Dude read the facts. Blondie was first which triggered the idea of rap. I should know I was a teen back then.

Rap did not even start in America (continental). Please check YOUR facts. I'm not doubting you were a teen back then, but are you sure you didn't just believe whatever was presented to you? Blondie WAS NOT what first triggered the idea of rap, sir. HINT: One of the rappers Fallon and Timberlake did will give you your answer; check his parentage/or place of descent.
You read the facts. Blondie was not first. Rapture was released in 1981 recorded in 1980. The Sugar Hill Gang reached #36 with Rapper's Delight in 1979and "The Breaks" by Kurtis Blow was certified gold and released in 1980. They were the first gold rap singles and they were released before "Rapture" so that is just one piece of evidence that Blondie did not start rap. Rap started in the ghetto by African Americans as a way of expressing the oppression and social injustices experienced by many people.
Surprised..Fallon and Timberlake were good.
