For years, comics fans have been following the behind-the-scenes saga as various parties (Joel Silver, Joss Whedon) tried and failed to bring a 'Wonder Woman' project to the big screen, with beauties such as Megan Fox and Angelina Jolie rumored to star.
It now looks far more likely that Diana Prince's lasso-wielding alter ego will take flight (in her awesome invisible plane, if we're lucky) on the small screen instead.
'Ally McBeal' creator David E. Kelly has signed on to develop a new series for Warner Bros. television about DC Comics' Amazon princess-turned-crimefighter, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
So, what about the star? Lynda Carter spun her way into pop-culture history during her unforgettable stint as Wonder Woman on the 1975-'79 series, but who's the best candidate to inherit her busty bustier and kick-ass silver bracelets? When you think about it, there are so many ways they could go with this.
- As an 'Avatar' warrior, Zoe Saldana was both lithe and lethal. She could bring the physicality and sex appeal that fangirls-and-boys would expect, in order for a 'Wonder Woman' reboot to succeed.
- Jenna Fischer is armed with an almost otherworldly level of likeability, thanks to a funny-smart persona that could mix brilliantly with David E. Kelley's writing and give Diana Prince some serious dimension. (Hey, if Seth Rogen can be a superhero, why not Pam?)
- Katherine Heigl is a primetime series standout who isn't seeing her post-'Grey's Anatomy' film career soar as expected; her beauty and sass are a classic superhero combo.
- As Lois on 'Smallville,' Erica Durance has done her girlfriend-of-the-hero tour of duty. Many fans would say it's time she took the lead in battling the bad guys.
- A recent rumor that Beyonce wanted to play Wonder Woman on film was discredited as a hoax. But the gorgeous 'Dreamgirls' star (who unleashed her own alter ego, Sasha Fierce, on her last album) would make for super television as this superhero.
Casting could make or break this exciting venture. Who do you think should play TV's next Wonder Woman?
Tina, you beat me to the punch. Jessica Alba is PERFECT for the role. She's absolutely gorgeous, athletic, great figure, and attractive to both guys and girls.

Maybe you wanna check it out or tell your friends..
My number 1 thought too! My 2nd would be Lucy Lawless. Lets face it any Kardashian has the built for it too, now their acting abilities I do not know......
There is only one name on that list that I could personally buy into as playing this role, that is Erica Durance. Katherine Heigl, Really??? Not even close but if you said Kim Kardashian now that may just be a direct on the money hit. It has to be someone who already closely resembles the charactor that they will be playing, they will not be in costume all the time either so they have to fit the alter ego bill too.
I'm sorry, but Erica Durance couldn't act her way out of a paper bag with a flashlight and map. She is the most annoying Lois Lane I've ever seen. One of the most interesting names on the list was Jenna Fischer; although not traditionally the look of Wonder Woman, there's always hair dye!
Is it just me or do some people only know actors from a small pool of movies/tv shows? Erica Durance,Jenna Fischer,Kristen Kruek,Zoe Saldana...have some imagination people! I will agree with choices like Rhona Mitra and Morena Baccarin, but to always drag out certain names for role is rediculous.
i think marnie schulenberg would be a good choice. and liv tyler would also be a good choice. both are beautifull with an obvious sincerity.or perhaps amy adams.
ANYONE EVER THINK OF EMILY DESCHANEL OF "BONES"?? SO BEAUTIFUL, SHE CAN ACT AND IS TALL AND CAN DO STUNTS AND FIGHT SCENES WITH EASY AND SHE IS BELIEVABLE. I VOTE FOR EMILY!!
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos

Yeah, except she can't act. She is overrated.

How about Rhona Mitra?

Jenna Fischer? Is that a joke?
It's either Morena Baccarin or a perfect unknown out there waiting to be discovered. But it'd be better as an animated series, I think.

Kristin Kreuk should be the next wonder woman!

I think Evangeline Lilly would be great for this role. She is gorgeous and she is feisty, but looks like an angel.

She has to have curves and be able to act, without both it is doomed

Me too! Deschanel is the one. Heigel is the pits. It is bad enough she will be Stephanie Plum.
You know what? I think your idea is super. Emily has that look, that would convince me, she is Wonder Woman... Good choice.
Jennifer Garner is my choice. She can man handle me anytime!!!
