Rick Sanchez Releases Apology for 'Bigot' Rant

Rick Sanchez has broken his silence nearly a week after a radio interview cost him his job at CNN. The former anchor, who called
Jon Stewart a "bigot" and said "everybody that runs CNN is a lot like" the 'Daily Show' star, released a statement Wednesday through a publicist to apologize for his "tired and mangled words."
He describes apologizing to Stewart for his "inartful comments" and then notes that he is against intolerance of all forms.
Sanchez does not acknowledge being fired, saying instead that he and CNN "decided to part ways." He also lavishes praise on his former employers and says there are "no hard feelings" about the circumstances.
He ends the statement by plugging his book, 'Conventional Idiocy.' Read Sanchez's statement in its entirety (via

"On October 4th, I had a very good conversation with Jon Stewart, and I had the opportunity to apologize for my inartful comments from last week. I sincerely extend this apology to anyone else whom I may have offended.
As Jon was kind enough to note in his show Monday night, I am very much opposed to hate and intolerance, in any form, and I have frequently spoken out against prejudice. Despite what my tired and mangled words may have implied, they were never intended to suggest any sort of narrow-mindedness and should never have been made.
In the aftermath of these comments, CNN and I have decided to part ways. However, I want to go on record to say that I have nothing but the highest regard for CNN and for my six wonderful years with them. I appreciate every opportunity that they have given me, and it has been a wonderful experience working for them. I have tremendous respect for everyone there, and I know that they feel the same about me. There are no hard feelings – just excitement about a new future of opportunities.
I look forward to my next step with great anticipation. In the meantime, I will continue to promote my book, Conventional Idiocy, in the hopes of broadening the discussion to get a better understanding between all Americans, regardless of race, creed or religion."
Sanchez was fired Oct. 1, a day after his appearance on comedian Pete Dominick's satellite radio show, where he made the disparaging comments.
After calling Stewart a bigot, Sanchez, who is frequently mocked on 'The Daily Show,' continued his tirade. Even when Dominick pointed out that Stewart is Jewish and a minority too, Sanchez kept going, saying, "I'm telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart, and to imply that somehow they, the people in this country who are Jewish, are an oppressed minority? Yeah."
Audio of the interview went viral immediately, and it wasn't long before the anchor was let go from the network. Late Friday, CNN released the following statement: "Rick Sanchez is no longer with the company. We thank Rick for his years of service and we wish him well."
Stewart addressed the Sanchez scandal Monday on 'The Daily Show.'

Sure he's apologizing. He woke up and realized there's little need for an arrogant, smug , uneducated news reader who have a past which includes a DUI causing death to a pedestian. He left the scene of his DUI and I suggest he do the same now!!!!

His lack of ratings are the real reason he is gone.
Hey Rick, Did you make "Rick's List"... the list you don't want to be on?, yes I think you did... talk about a smug, arrogant human being... I used to turn the channel as soon as I saw your face on CNN... you suck! Hit anyone lately while driving drunk?

Hey Rick, you are just an innocent guy, right.
Weren't you involved with a drug smuggler in South America and fled from South Florida to avoid charges? And wasn't it you who was driving drunk in Miami several years ago and ran over an older man killing him on the spot? And didn't you flee home only to walk back to the scene and claim you weren't drunk at the time you ran over the guy, but went home and had several drinks because you were so upset?
You may have lost some weight, but you are still the same guy. Nothing changes. It's all about the "Rick".
Good to hear CNN finally flushed their toilet......

Stop it please; your killing me. All this stuff is absolutely too funny. Maby we should do a "RICKS LIST" HA!HA!HA! I can't take it anymore. HA! HA!
So Rick Sanchez slammed the people who control and run CNN. These people were nice enough to give him a job for seven years. Rick is obviously not very bright..why would anyone in this economy, especially someone who has his own show on CNN, bite the hand that feeds him???? What an idiot.
