Rick Sanchez has broken his silence nearly a week after a radio interview cost him his job at CNN. The former anchor, who called Jon Stewart a "bigot" and said "everybody that runs CNN is a lot like" the 'Daily Show' star, released a statement Wednesday through a publicist to apologize for his "tired and mangled words."

He describes apologizing to Stewart for his "inartful comments" and then notes that he is against intolerance of all forms.

Sanchez does not acknowledge being fired, saying instead that he and CNN "decided to part ways." He also lavishes praise on his former employers and says there are "no hard feelings" about the circumstances.

He ends the statement by plugging his book, 'Conventional Idiocy.' Read Sanchez's statement in its entirety (via tampabay.com) after the jump.
