Ozzy Osbourne is bearing down on the infamous Westboro Baptist Church for using his song 'Crazy Train' during protests of gays in the military, E! Online reports.
After the small church used his 1980 hit at a demonstration on Thursday at the U.S. Supreme Court, the Prince of Darkness couldn't hold his tongue any longer.
"I'm sickened and disgusted by the use of 'Crazy Train' to promote messages of hate and evil by a 'church,'" Ozzy said in a statement.
The Kansas-based church was in Washington because the Supreme Court is set to review a ruling that awarded $5 million to the family of Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder, whose funeral Westboro protested. The church appealed, and now it's going to the high court.
At this week's protests, church members turned Ozzy's song into a hate-mongering chant: "You're going straight to hell on your crazy train."
Of course, the song doesn't contain such lyrics. Instead, the metal hit is a plea for tolerance and understanding. The first line:
Crazy, but that's how it goes
Millions of people living as foes
Maybe it's not too late
To learn how to love
And forget how to hate
Blake, Let me guess: you are a believer! Boy, god, his motherless child, and his minions in Never-Never Land are gushing with pride when looking at their rabble
It's the lack of religion and the shutting God out of our lives that is destroying this country. Our founding fathers would be ashamed of whyat's happening. I know I am.
John, some of the more prominent Founding Fathers were anti-clerical or vocal about their opposition to organized religion, such as Thomas Jefferson (who created the "Jefferson Bible"), and Benjamin Franklin. They realized not everyone believed in some form of Christianity, and while they may have disagreed, they fought for the individual right to believe anything we want. Would they have been angry about the direction this country has taken, of course they would! They'd be furious, but not for the reasons you're thinking,..
I agree with you 100%. Organized Religion has destroyed the very soul of mankind. Extoling ignorance and selling pie in the sky not only degrades humanity but it devotes precious resources to enriching a few to the determent of many. A church recently had a sign board out front that said: "Logic is the enemy of Faith" I could not agree more.
You go Ozzy... maybe he should take them to court for their non-authorized use of his music... let them know that not only are they being anything but christian and that they can't just take what they want, change it, then use it for very "non-christian" like behavior. Whatever happened to a loving God!
Leave it to these demented morons to use a song of an artist that they themselves undoubtedly protested against at one time. On top of that, change the lyrics around to create some twisted message that smacks of pompousness and self-rightousness. Ignorance must truley be bliss.
I was thinking a bunch of people should go to their church with "God hates in-breeding" & "Dentists are of God, why not try one?" signs. Of course they would just revel even more in that attention. The problem is not organized religion, the problem is nobody reads the Bible & they go off in all directions because they refuse to be organized. Jesus loved the Church & gave His life for her, whosoever will.
I'm saddened and at times angered by the awful things that “people of faith” will resort to in order to advance an agenda that conspires to convince others that “their” religion is the only religion. You can name the religion (Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhists, Shinto, and/or Pantheists) but they’ve all had followers within their circle that have not been rebuffed by members of their faith an who’ve been guilty of atrocities in order to maximize their own influence and control. Brutality, murder, rape, torture, ethnic cleansing, toxic racism and bullying have all been utilized by most (if not all) of these groups to control the lives and thoughts of others. I believe that the brazen, quest for ultimate power and control is at the root of mankind’s worst problems and that it’s pursuit is the most flawed part of human nature.
Although shear brain size has allowed mankind to reach the top of the food chain, it’s evident from observation and personal experience that most of mankind lack the necessary quiescent qualities to grasp even the dim reflection of the Creator of time and space. Therefore they can't appreciate the beauty and validity of any other quiescent beings down through the countless pages of history!

If the prince of darkness is calling you evil, you have some issues that need to be resolved.

Doesn"t surprise me in the least. Hate-mongoring is the only thing this so-called "church" is good at.

I wonder how they would feel if protesters gathered during their services?
