Kelsey Grammer Reveals Girlfriend's Recent Miscarriage

In August, Kelsey Grammer, 55, began stepping out with a new 29-year-old girlfriend, Kayte Walsh, amid speculation that she was pregnant. The two soon confirmed that they were indeed expecting a baby.

It turns out the couple have recently been coping with sad news about the pregnancy. Today, Grammer and Walsh revealed in a statement to PEOPLE:

"We lost our unborn child about six weeks ago....We would like to thank all of those who expressed kindness and concern but we needed a little time to heal, time to find some solace before we publicly acknowledged our loss."

Last month, the actor -- currently starring in the Tony-winning revival of 'La Cage Aux Folles' on Broadway -- confirmed that he and Walsh, a British flight attendant, were apartment hunting in New York. "We are in love," he said.

Grammer's wife of 13 years, Camille Donatacci, filed divorce papers earlier this summer, citing irreconcilable differences. She is raising two children with the Emmy winner, who also has two other children from previous relationships.

Old geezers have kids because they know they are not the ones to have to raise them.

It's a virility thing, because most American men are too lazy to raise their own kids.

A miscarriage is a terrible thing but so is having a bastard child brought into the world between a MARRIED MAN (he's not divorced yet) and a MISTRESS.

A baby is a baby, regardless of legitimacy. Why do you people have to be so cruel. It was still a baby! He already has 4 kids he is not going to raise - 4 kids without a daddy. And they'll watch as he lavishes attention and time, something they don't get, with the new young babe who gets pregnant by him. Sorry about the miscarriage, but miscarriges has been occuring since humans were getting pregnant. I've known tons of women who miscarried who then gave birth and had many children.
