Carrie Fisher Used Cocaine on 'Empire Strikes Back'
While Princess Leia was blowing away stormtroopers with blasters on Planet Hoth on the set of 'Empire Strikes Back,' she was also snorting a little cocaine behind the scenes, it turns out.
"I didn't even like coke that much, it was just a case of getting on whatever train I needed to get high," actress Carrie Fisher told
AAP Sydney.
The 53-year-old Fisher opened up in an interview with the Australian newswire to talk about her history of drug abuse, explaining how her dark side took over much of her life and career in the end.
Things only got worse for the former leader of the rebel alliance when she started hanging out with her boyfriend Dan Aykroyd's circle, which included John Belushi in the 'Blues Brothers' era.
"Slowly I realized I was doing a bit more drugs than other people and losing my choice in the matter," Fisher said.
Despite hardships on the brutal road to sobriety, it was a sense of humor that truly saved her.
"It wasn't as funny when a friend died in my bed from an overdose and it took a long time for that to be," Fisher said. "It's not funny still, but it's funnier and not as tragic."
Fisher is touring five different Australian cities from October to November doing an award-winning stand-up routine called 'Wishful Drinking.'

Are you sure that picture is of Carrie Fisher?I have seen people in their early sixties quickly develop a serious illness which can make them look like they are eighty practically overnight.

Clearly, she has Debbie's eyes and Eddie's nose but otherwise....she looks old enough to be Debbie's mother but I have seen photos of Maxene and she is prettier. Sorry, Carrie, but at one time you were kind of cute.

Booze, drugs, and cigs....THIS is what it does to your looks...She is a young middle-aged woman...like what...52 or something?? and she looks like a bloated corpse fished out of the East River. Too bad..she is wickedly funny and acerbic...but I cannot get past her chain-smoking boozy delivery.

Yep, use a little coke myself but its not my favorite drink... coffee is easier on the stomach.... Also like to break the monotony with a sam adams ab und zu, that's Gemany by the way, for time to time.
