Courteney Cox, David Arquette Officially Separated

After 11 years of marriage, Courteney Cox and David Arquette have decided to separate.

The split was first reported by In Touch Weekly.

According to TMZ, Cox and Arquette have been living apart for a few months.

The couple released a statement regarding the breakup. "We have agreed to a trial separation that dates back for some time. The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage."

It continued, "We remain best friends and responsible parents to our daughter and we still love each other deeply."

Cox and Arquette have a daughter together, 6-year-old Coco. In a March interview, PopEater asked Arquette about rampant adoption rumors. He told us, "No. We don't have any plans on it, no. That was just something Bonnie Hunt asked us if we'd be open to it and I said yeah, and then suddenly we're 'adopting.' We probably won't." Now it seems they definitely won't.

As recently as the August issue of InStyle magazine, Cox spoke confidently about how she keeps her marriage going: "We have fun together and separately. We each have all the freedom in the world, which makes for a very comfortable relationship. It's easy for people to just coexist, especially when you have such different interests and work lives. You have to make an effort to stay connected, and that's something we work at."

The actors met on the set of the 1995 film 'Scream.' They married in 1999. Ironically, they are set to appear together in 'Scream 4,' which is due out in April of next year.

Cox gained widespread fame for her role on the comedy 'Friends' and currently stars in ABC's modest hit 'Cougar Town.' Arquette is an executive producer of that show and has appeared in numerous films, including 'Never Been Kissed' and 'Airheads.'
