Crystal Bowersox Ties the Knot in Hemp Dress

Congrats are in order for 'American Idol' runner-up Crystal Bowersox, who said "I Do" to musician Brian Walker in an intimate wedding ceremony in Chicago on Sunday. Engaged for only a few weeks, the husky-voiced singer and her beau have been friends for years.

"Our lives have never made more sense than they do right now," Bowersox told PEOPLE. "I can't believe how incredibly lucky we are to have found so much laughter, love and light within each other. We're one happy WalkerSox family."

Bowersox, 25, wore a gown made of hemp and cotton, and the ceremony -- attended by about 16 people -- was actually held at the night club where they met six years ago.

It's been quite a year for Bowersox. In May, shortly before one of her final live performances, she broke up with her boyfriend, Tony Kusian. She then came in second on 'Idol,' hit the road with the cast for the 'Idols Live' tour (which canceled numerous shows and ended early, reportedly due to disappointing ticket sales), got her teeth fixed in July and entered the studio to begin recording her debut album.

This is the first marriage for Bowersox, who has a son (almost 2 years old) from a previous relationship.

Five years?? You her way too much credit. It has been less than a year since "idol" ended, and anyone that didn't watch the show, doesn't know who she is now. Oh, and just like that, her son has a new daddy. I feel badly for him, but don't worry kid, this latest installment of "daddy" won't last too long. I am sure that this dude won't even have all his bags unpacked before this is over.

If you were familiar with the story you would not be saying what you said. It was her boyfriend who could not handle the spotlight that was the reason for the breakup..had nothing to do with her...

Jim and Chaz, you are haters with no knowlege here. Linda is right -- Crystal's boyfriend did break up with her at the worse possible time because he couldn't handle her spotlight. You really should learn the facts before you go spouting the hate.

I wish her all the best and hopefully, things will last well for both of them. Recalling the last two idol shows I am not surprised that ticket sales for the tour were poor and it closed early. Simon Cowell knew it was over; if the producers paid the audience to watch Lopez et.al,the show will still sink lower down the ratings.

What the hell dose a persons political leanings have to do with wether or not they like a singer? She is a very talented singer who I believe should have won Idol. I cant help but like a girl, thats not afraid to be on stage and sing with no make up on. Crystal is a great singer, and a sweet lady.

if you read the article carefully it said that crystal bowersox met the now her husband six years ago which means she met him while she was with her son's father.
