Mika's Sister Impaled on Railings After Fall in London

The sister of British pop star Mika is in critical condition after being impaled on railings after falling from a fourth-floor window in southwest London. According to reports, Paloma Penniman suffered multiple injuries in the fall, which happened early Sunday. Police are investigating the circumstance of how she fell, but are saying the tragedy is "being treated as non-suspicious."

A spokesman for Mika, real name Michael Penniman Jr., said the singer's sister was in "critical but stable" condition at Royal London Hospital. "The family have asked for privacy at this time."

Metropolitan Police gave this account to BBC News: "Police were called to an address at 0515 BST after reports a woman was impaled on railings after falling from a window. Inquiries into the circumstances have begun. It is being treated as non-suspicious."

The Beirut-born Mika rose to fame in 2007 with his album 'Life in Cartoon Motion,' which contained the hits 'Grace Kelly" and 'Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)' and sold more than 5.6 million copies worldwide.

He released a second album, 'The Boy Who Knew Too Much,' in 2009, and is currently on tour. PopEater had the pleasure of speaking with Mika last year, where he showed off his painting skills and spoke glowingly about Lady Gaga.

How old is his sister? The article said "a woman was impaled on railings after falling from a window." How does a woman simply fall out of a window? Sounds like she was using drugs or was drunk for that to happen so easily. Doesn't make sense to me. Why have an article about a mishap and no obvious explanation at all? Duh!

I agree with Carl. You are a bigot. Further, it never ceases to amaze me the stupid things people post when they don't have to say it out loud to others. I guarantee you would never say something like that to your friends or friends of friends. Get a life and some tolerance.

I've seen these railings outside posh residences before. They are usually made of cast iron and culminate in a series of sharp points. And they are usually placed perilously close to the building.
