Oliver Stone Calls Michael Douglas' Status 'Precarious'

While in Berlin promoting 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,' director Oliver Stone made
Michael Douglas' cancer prognosis appear even more bleak, telling reporters on Tuesday that Douglas is in a "precarious" state,
AP reports.
Academy Award winner Douglas, 66, has been battling throat cancer since a
tumor was discovered in August, and he was unable to join Stone in Europe to promote the movie because he's apparently "suffering."
Last week, it was
reported that Douglas was only about a week away from finishing his chemo treatment, and that "no further treatments were scheduled."
Also last week in the same report, his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, told reporters that his outlook was getting better and that "the doctors are so happy."
Despite dealing with obvious pain in mid-September, Douglas had the
strength to attend the New York City premiere for 'Wall Street,' but didn't say a word to reporters.

God Bless Michael Douglas. I don't much care for him professionally but I pray for his speedy and thorough recovery. I wonder if Stone thinks his illness is a conspiracy. Can't he keep his mouth shut and mind his own business?

Maybe you wanna check it out or tell your friends..
The media is going to latch on to this story any way it can, like they did with Patrick Swayze and even Farrah Fawcett. They'll report him "Dying in two weeks" just to get the headlines. Journalism (if you can even call it that) at its lowest...
Nice work. Climbing over a dying man to get
at Oliver Stone
Yes, Mr. Douglas admitted in a recent interview that it was a "conspiracy" of smoking, too much drinking and eating red meat. Apparently, all are risk factors for this type of cancer.
Amen! A--holes should keep their mouth's shut!! Life is short and we do not need those that make a mockery of it for their short sight and money grabbing attidudes. Pray for those less fortunate and less talk.
I never cared for oliver stone.
He obviously has a big mouth, and likes to be the one with all the latest news. It seems oliver wouldnt make for a very good friend.

Excellent observation. Why would he even say that. How about thinking positively.
I'm praying for a full recovery for Michael Douglas.
Ever have your mouth sized?
Oliver Stone sees the worst side of everything (that's what most of his films are based on) - I wouldn't believe a word this alarmist says, and it was not his place to say these things. What is he - the family spokesman? On the other hand, I'm sure things aren't necessarily as rosey as Catherine would like to believe - if I were Michael Douglas' wife, I'd be encouraged by anything positive I could hold onto. My heart goes out to Michael and his family.
Wow - Oliver Stone really should keep his mouth shut. Of course Michael Douglas wouldn't be well enough to travel to Europe to promote a movie - he just finished his treatment! Those trips are gruelling enough for a person in perfect health.

Well said, These journalists need to educate themselves about ill health and treatments!! Again: doom and gloom will sell. How about some positive notes for a change??
Im just wonder what the truth really is--somehow I dont feel as optimistic about this no matter what anyone says.My dad had cancer, went into remission then it returned & the RADIATION did him in, he was terminal but because he HAD GOOD INSURANCE they proceeded with all the treatments & that wore down what little immunity he had.Sometimes you just have to take the chance of going for it or let a higher power take over.

My dad had head and neck cancer when he was in his 70's and he had what is called the "radical tongue flap" surgery. He had half of his lower jaw removed, his hard palette, and part of his neck was resected. His larynx was not affected. Before sugery, he had radiation treatments every day for 6 weeks.
He survived all of that! He was a very handsome man pre-this dastardly disease but the surgery left him disfigured. He may have been bloodied but he was definately not unboughed! 4 of his uncles in the UK had it and they all died. However, my dad not only survied, he said that he would never die of cancer and he did not. He died at 80 of that "old man's friend", pneumonia.
Where there is a will, there is a wide open way. A good attitude helps immensely in dealing with cancer.
I also agree, My father had tongue and throat cancer and had done very well after the initial treatments and had surgery and everything looked fine and then it returned with a vengeance. I have no idea how Michael Douglas is doing but what he is going thru is taxing on the body and the mind and I hope he keeps his strenght and fights. I feel we don't put enough emphasis on CANCER..because we segregate it by designating pink to mean breast cancer etc.....we should just raise money for all cancers and not give certain emphasis on certain cancers its not fair..... Cancer anywhere on the body deserves as much attention as Breast Cancer etc....
my wife same issue gave her 6 months we got 4 and 1/2 years
Cancer is always "precarious", but Oliver Stone just needs to keep his big yap shut for a change.

Three friends/family members died of this cancer after treatment. The radiation and chemo is very harsh and the prognosis is poor in this cancer. It was not as 'advanced' as Michael's. Still, we must have hope and a positive attitude-there are rare successes. Stone should have kept his mouth shut, he is not the family spokeperson. Some times we need to keep our opinions to ourselves.
hey stone...who told you that?..some mysterious stranger on a park bench in DC?...why don't you have another drink and go for a drive.

You hate Stone yet you took the time to watch JFK? So thats how it is done in the real world. At least you support his moves and care enough to watch them.
