Jerry O'Connell on Law School, Yo Gabba Gabba and David Arquette

Jerry O'Connell is back on TV co-starring with Jim Belushi as a flashy attorney in
'The Defenders' on CBS. Awesome, right? But before we get to his new show or his gorgeous wife or his darling twin girls or those crazy Kardashian girls or Yo Gabba Gabba (wait, huh?),
PopEater just
had to get his take on the mess that has befallen his 'Scream 2' co-star
David Arquette. Why? Because the affable O'Connell is a
huge fan of
Howard Stern, the venue in which Arquette decided to
overshare yesterday about his split from Courteney Cox. "That phone call was such a bad idea," O'Connell told us, before using that lawyer-ly knowledge he cultivated in law school to explain
how deep Arquette stepped in it.
So ... did you get your Howard Stern fix on Tuesday?
Isn't it crazy the amount of trouble David Arquette got into? I knew the second he called, it was a bad idea. But as a Howard Stern fan I was like, 'Wow this is great.' When I heard they were getting divorced I couldn't believe it. It was a little shocking.
It just didn't come off as very smart, right?
That phone call was such a bad idea. I know I only play an attorney on TV, but the divorce isn't finalized! You're still going through the process and to come out and talk about it, you just can't do it. By the way, I don't know any personal facts but you can rest assured that some parties were upset he went out and did a public interview the day it was announced. I actually did one year of law school at [Southwestern in L.A.] so there is a part of me that clocks into everything as a little bit of a lawyer and if I was his attorney I would have been very upset that he called the Stern show. It's going to be used against him.
Why did you decide to go into law school?
I took a year off acting. My wife [Rebecca Romijn] was working on 'Eastwick' last year and I was at home with the kids. I'm now a second year law student, I hate to use the word dropped out, but I dropped out to do the show
'The Defenders.' Playing a lawyer on TV pays better than being one.
That's pretty cool that you started law school.
I had to write motions, a brief, legal memorandums. I got to tell you I was not at the top of the class. I wasn't at the bottom, but I was certainly not at the top.
When you were a stay-at-home Dad did you lose your mind?
I didn't really lose my mind; it does get crazy with not one but two babies. But I wouldn't trade it in for the world. I thought it was going to be a lot easier than it actually was. I thought I'll just slap some diapers on, throw some food in them and that would be it. I thought it would be like one of our dogs. But they're great, my children are really crazy. They love to wake up at three in the morning and have like a rave in the living room.
What's the one thing that surprised you the most about raising kids?
Um, maybe when they're really young, how intense some of their number twos are. It's crazy down there, the color the consistency, everything.
Plans for anymore?
No, that's it. I took one of my dogs to the vet the other day and I was really considering going in and getting fixed myself.
Are you strict with what your kids eat?
My wife is very much into getting the gluten free and all of that. I'm the worst, I take them right to McDonalds and get them a happy meal but they love it.
[Ruckus] Sorry about the noise, my kid is watching TV.
Our girls' favorite is Yo Gabba Gabba.
Mine too! We went to see them at Radio City Hall last week.
It's so funny you say that because we got tickets to see them the day after Thanksgiving and it'll be the first concert that my kids go to.
Yeah it was our first one too. I think I was more excited than he was.
My wife and I keep joking that we're going to rent a limo, get really drunk and go see the show. I called my mom and told her I'm getting tickets for Yo Gabba Gabba and she said, 'Oh for you and Rebecca?' I was like, 'Yeah just for the two of us.' My wife and I were joking about how funny it would be if just the two of us went. We love all of them, Plex, Brobee.
I love them all but Brobee irritates me. He's always upset about something.
He plays the one who's sort of a little slow.
He's supposed to be younger than the others.
Oh ok I thought it was because he's a little slow.
So as part of a celebrity couple, do you have lots of paparazzi following you?
We live about two miles from Britney Spears, the Kardashians and J.Lo. So what happens is I'll got to the store and maybe the Kardashians are hung over or Britney doesn't feel like coming out or J.Lo's at 'American Idol,' so they'll be stuck with me.
Is there more to the Kardashian girls that we don't know about?
I do want to say I know a lot of people say crazy things about those Kardashian girls. I see them all the time in our neighborhood and the mall and they are the cutest, nicest, family orientated girls out there. I love them. They're so nice to our girls. I joke about them coming home hung over but I really do like them a lot. I like it too because they grew up in the neighborhood so if anybody messes with my daughters, they're going to have to deal with the Kardashian girls. Something tells me those Kardashian girls can kick some ass.

Am I to presume, then, that O'Connell might have need of Khloe Kardashian's services as a family bodyguard in the near future?

Jerry O'Connell needs to mind his own business. He's not an authority on the law and sure as hell can't act. He's a douche!

Jerry is right on the money. David is an infantile egomaniac, and should be ashamed for his actions instead of the "Oh, I'm on a spiritual journey" crud. I like Jerry...saw him at the Disney lot once, and he's haaaaawwwwttttt. All of these divorces make me sad, but I guess no one is immune. Here's to love...
