Oprah Gives 'Daily Show' Audience Free Trip to 'Rally to Restore Sanity'

Oprah Winfrey is famous for giving her audience lavish gifts and free trips to destinations all around the world, but last night it was the audience of
Jon Stewart's 'The Daily Show' that got a little love from the Queen of Talk.
After a playful exchange between Stewart and his Comedy Central colleague
Steven Colbert about combining their planned Washington, D.C., rallies, Oprah arrived via satellite to surprise Stewart's audience with free trips to the newly rechristened "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear."
"So Jon, remember when you were just here on my show, [and] we talked about how I was taking my audience to Australia," Winfrey reminded Stewart. "And you said that your audience never gets anything."
"Well, the tickets are free," Stewart quipped.
"When I heard that, that made me feel just a little bit sad, so, you know, I know that you've got this huge event coming up, and I'm really excited about it because I think we need a little bit more sanity in the world," Winfrey said to raucous applause from the audience. "And I wanted to show my support for you, Jon, and also for your audience. So here's what I did, I had my staff sneak into your studio early this morning with a little gift."
When Stewart asked Winfrey what she'd gotten them, Winfrey told the audience to look under their seats, and, in true Oprah form, she screamed, "You're going to the rally! You're going to the rally! You're going to the rally! Everybody's going to the RALLY! ... Now get out there and restore some SANITY."
Watch:
ABC
reports that Winfrey is paying for both airfare and hotel accommodations.
The "
Rally to Restore Sanity" will be held Oct. 30 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The aim of the event is to encourage citizens on both sides of the aisle to take it down a notch and encourage voter turnout as we approach November's mid-term elections. According to the rally's website, "We're looking for the people who think shouting is annoying, counterproductive, and terrible for your throat; who feel that the loudest voices shouldn't be the only ones that get heard; and who believe that the only time it's appropriate to draw a Hitler mustache on someone is when that person is actually Hitler. Or Charlie Chaplin in certain roles."
What began as something of a parody of Glenn Beck's "Rally to Restore Honor" has taken on a life of its own, with some pundits
speculating that it presents a "chance for the low-key middle to come together" and is giving a voice to the "silent majority" of political moderates who skew more toward the middle than the extreme left or right.
On the rally's Facebook page, over 205,000 people are already saying they're making the trip, with an untold (and more difficult to predict) number of others expected to attend. The
Huffington Post is also sponsoring several buses to transport people from New York City to the event.

Doperah, you are pathetic. If you have to pay people to attend, do they really believe?

clearly by some of the posts there is a huge addiction to inflammatory rhetoric. these people it would seem would prefer to stay in a shouting match of demonizing the left or the right instead of having rational conversations in the middle...sad really for both sides...

Guess Oprah thinks the only way to get folks to this stupid rally is to pay their way. 'Restore sanity'? What sanity? Are Stewart & Colbert insinuating that the Beck rally was 'insanity'? What a crock! The behavior of the people at Beck's rally was impeccable--a far cry from the rally held later with all the unions bussing in their members, who then left the grounds a mess. The folks at Beck's PAID THEIR OWN WAY,didn't need a union bus to bring 'em in or Oprah to give 'em a ticket...but I guess she has to do something to continue backing up her starry-eyed, worshipful support of Obama, the scourge of America....

Big O doesn't care who she offends it her last year, this is why she has lost half her audience since 2008, that's the reason she's leaving, don't let her fool ya.

Thats going to severly limit his attendance given "the usual suspects' that are being payed to attend.
Is Oprah going or is she 'busy ' that weekend?
If she really wants to do something useful she could pay for the trash cleanup.

One of these days Oprah is going to go the way of Joy and Whoopi. Who needs her Obama worshiping opinions?
