Jessica Simpson Gushes About Boyfriend Eric Johnson: 'I Love Him!'

After taping a PBS holiday special this week (on which she'll sing music from her upcoming Christmas album), Jessica Simpson didn't hold back about how her current relationship is going.

The reality star told People.com that boyfriend Eric Johnson simply makes her happy.

"As far as Eric and I go," she said, "we're just best friends. He's my dude! I love him."

Simpson reportedly began dating the former NFL player in May, and the pair traveled to Italy with friends in July to celebrate her 30th birthday in style.

Is the VH1 star crowing more openly about her love life now that she's with a legally single man?

According to official papers filed in Los Angeles, the divorce between Johnson and his ex-wife Keri was finalized last month, with no spousal support awarded to either party (the couple, married five years, reportedly separated in October 2009).

Simpson's "dude" is a 31- year-old who played football as a student at Yale, before his five-year career in the NFL.

"This [relationship] is just normal, thank God," Simpson explains. "He's very, very supportive....Couldn't ask for a better man in my life right now."

When asked by People.com if she thinks Johnson is "the one" for her, she was both cautious and effusive: "I'm not gonna jinx my own self. He's the one for me right now! I'm very happy. I'm in a great place, and if right now could last forever, I'd take it."

Vh1 is scheduled to bring back a revamped version of 'Price of Beauty' in early 2011. Will the episodes feature less Ken Paves and more Eric Johnson? We'll be waiting to see!

Lets see she loved Nich Lachey-then John Mayer-then Tony Romo-she has alot of love to share. I think she's on love with the idea of being in love and doesn't deal with being alone very well. This guy will be replaced with someone else in a couple of months and she'll be gushing about them.

Her ex-husband didn't use her. As I recall, Ms. Simpson pimped her relationship to Nick Lachey from the very beginning. You seem to forget who was a bigger star in the beginning.And her father didn't hesitate to use their relationship to jump start Ashlee's career either.

The problem with Jessica after men start dating her I think they see that she's just a spoiled brat. She's a slob for one because she's use to having people do everything for her. When she first got married to Nick, they were on Oprah and she was laughing at him talking about how nasty she was. She wouldn't pick up after herself, just leave clothes dropped on the floor and just walk right over them. She's a slob and some people had to work for everything the got, not having things handed to you like she has!
