Did Jessica Simpson's Father Diss U.S. Troops?

A singing ensemble of U.S. combat veterans, the 4T Troops, were allegedly barred by Joe Simpson from performing on TV alongside Jessica Simpson, 30, with a source claiming to Page Six that her team felt their camouflage attire wouldn't look good on camera next to the decked-out beauty.

Simpson, in New York City with her boyfriend Eric Johnson, was taping a PBS holiday special on Thursday (a broadcast on which she'll sing tunes from her upcoming album) when the alleged snub occurred.

"Jessica's dad, Joe Simpson, effectively kicked them off the show because he didn't like what they were wearing," says the insider. "They were in camo pants and blazers, the same outfits they wore to sing for Gen. David Petraeus on the USS Intrepid. They were told they couldn't perform unless they were wearing tuxedos."

But there are two sides to every skirmish: Jessica Simpson's spokesperson tells PopEater the singer is innocent, and would never diss any members of the military.

"The song was cut due to time. Jessica wasn't even aware. She is wholeheartedly devoted to the troops -- she just returned from the Persian Gulf where she performed for, and met with, service men and women stationed at several different locations. Last night, she received a Silver Star Award for her work with AFCEF (Armed Forces Children's Education Fund)."

"The military was the source of inspiration for her entire Christmas album, so much so that she recorded a duet for the album with a USS Harry Truman sailor," the rep adds.

Still, backstage witnesses insist that feelings were hurt over what happened. A spokeswoman for the 4T Troops singers -- who reportedly "waited six hours until midnight only to be told their number with Jessica had been cut" -- said, "Joe [Simpson] should be ashamed of himself."

One of the singers, former Sgt. Daniel Jens (deployed in Iraq in 2007), said, "I am so disappointed and angry, I threw up when I got back to my room."

Meanwhile, Simpson does indeed appear to be oblivious to the backstage drama in this happy pic she posted to Twitter followers with the caption: "Eric and I late night after PBS Christmas special..."

Her father is an idiot who should form a corporation with Lindsay Lohan's father to see who can destroy his daughter's career first, but the servicemen with their noses out of joint are just as sad. Why would anyone with any taste or intelligence want to sing with a pathetic, overrated no talent like Jessica Simpson in the first place?

Her dad messed up her marriage with Nick. No man wants his wife's daddy around controlling his wife and trying to make her into this movie star thing! Her dad is not good for her at this point. She needs to take control. It's despicable, he did that to the troops.

If Mr. Simpson wanted the troops to wear tuxedos, he should have provided them. Does he think the troops have money to rent tuxedos or the government should pay for them for the honor of being on stage with his daughter? Pretty disgusting.

Joe Simpson is a Pathetic person (not even a man). Jessica, is old enough to make her own discussion so I blame her as well. I can not stand the Simpson's. Everybody should STOP listening to her and giving her any publishes. They make me sick....................

I suppose he figured the military would take her spot in the limelight. she's a big girl now and still answers to daddy, wonder if she'll ever grow up. as far as our military guys, you are way too good to be seen with TRASH like her!

I'm just curious why so many skanky pundits get off on picking on this young lady and tearing her down. Don't Spears and Lohan provide you folks with enough cannon fodder? As far as I can see, Jessica is just a kid who's been unlucky in love and unable to catch a break. I'm a veteran, and I am pretty much disgusted with political correctness. If Ms. Simpson's dad stuck his foot in his mouth, why are you so hell bent on making a big deal out of it? There are plenty enough celebrities who genuinely do hate our troops. Why don't you report on them?

I would not buy anything she sells nor broadcasts. If it wasn't for our troops she would not be safe. Nor would America. They lay there lives on the line everyday for us so we can sleep better at night. I am sure she knew what her Dad had done. You know there is rehersal. It just didn't happen. WHAT A BUNCH OF WHINING MISERABLE PEOPLE YOU ARE. This whole "dissing the troops" thing is sooo friggin old. As a veteran I can tell you that this kind of thing happens all the time. That's why we had the expression "hurry up and wait" as the enlisted mens' creedo. Personally, I am sickened by the idea that a man can join the Army and spend his time singing like a canary. Any guy that gets "so angry that he throws up" over something like this is obviously part of the "don't as don't tell" membership. Get over it! All of this fake patriotism makes me wanna throw up.

This is awful! I am not faulting Jessica, but she needs to be a little more involved and know what is happening. How could she have missed seeing all the soldiers there? So, she can't be totally oblivious to this. As for her Dad, what a disgrace. He should be ashamed, but instead he will wiggle out of what he did, and the media will let it slide by. I hope the Media slams him, but doubtful, and he will keep raking in money off of the backs of his girls.
