Report: Mel Gibson Mounts Comeback in 'Hangover 2'

UPDATE: Mel Gibson axed from 'The Hangover 2' after complaints from the cast.

Mel Gibson has been in Hollywood jail ever since the disastrous fallout from his relationship with ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva went public, and now he's planning his great escape, starting with a cameo in 'The Hangover 2,' according to New York Post's Page Six. He'll reportedly be playing a tattoo artist.

"It's a done deal," a source told Page Six. "Filming is taking place on the Warner Bros. lot, where a Bangkok set has been built and Mel is expected to film his role in two weeks. Then the production moves to Thailand at the end of October."

The 'Hangover' sequel catalogs yet another disastrous vacation for Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis, which this time takes the boys to Thailand.

Fortunately for Gibson, he has some experience playing roles as weird body artists. Back in 1997, he played "Scott the Body Piercer" in a short scene in 'Father's Day.'

Also, the guys from 'The Hangover' are starting to make a habit out of rehabbing controversial celebrities with key cameo roles, as they did for Mike Tyson in the original movie while he was recovering from his "drug abuser" image. Similarly, Tom Cruise pumped some new life into his career when he played Les Grossman in 'Tropic Thunder.'

Neither Gibson or Warner Bros. have commented on the report.

A "great" talent who couldn't keep his pants up and who is suffering from a bad mid-life crisis! Amazing how people like Mel and Charlie Sheen can get away with murder and still get/keep a job. Had Mel been faithful to his wife, he wouldn't be in this mess.

Gibson has been married once and I've never heard anything bad about her. His girlfriend is who you maybe referring to. Gibson is the lunatic and why do people always call the woman involved a gold digger? He dated her, lived with her and had a child with her. I have a name for him *astard!

Mel didn't mind having her as his girlfriend for what, three years? He didn't mind having a baby with her either. And judging by his track record, he is prone to rages. Hollywood may have a lot of money invested in trying to revive his career, but I wouldn't pay money to see any movie of his. And I hope the girlfriend has a happy life with the baby and without him.

Mel has a serious alcohol problem. When that is gone, all of the other characteristics seem to disappear. Danny Glover said on E, or Entertainment tonight, something like that. Jackie Mason said after the “traffic-Jew-stop” a few years ago, that he knew Mel, he was or is not racist, but has a drinking problem. His first wife said in various things after these tapes broke, that the only problems they ever had were because of alcohol. It’s not a “drunken actions are sober thoughts deal for him,” he would start doing and saying things he didn’t do or say sober after just one or two, but after one or two, he’d have to have twenty drinks. He needs to go back to rehab. A real intense rehab, and STOP drinking. It just causes more problems.

It will be too bad for the actors in Hangover 2 as no one know that Mel will be in it will pay to go see him in it, as well as the entire other members of the cast. He will ruin their careers like he has ruined his own. Just sayin...

Mr Gibson is a very talented man I've always enjoyed watching.

What has happened to him will only make him stronger and will show in his future work.

ps. to someone that mentioned 'wife'. He has had only 1 wife in 28 years. The Mother of his children and a very respected woman.

There was that 'other' person but they were not married and she did have a child. Her 2nd, both children with different fathers and both out of wedlock.
