Pregnant Celine Dion Hospitalized in Florida

Celine Dion has been admitted to a Florida hospital to prevent the premature delivery of her twin boys, the singer's rep confirmed to PEOPLE. Dion was admitted to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach on the advice of her physicians. "[This] is the standard of care for any patient with twin pregnancy in this clinical setting," her rep added. Dion is due to deliver the twins next month and denied that she scheduled a C-section.

Dion announced earlier this year that she and her husband, Rene Angelil, were expecting. They also have a 9-year-old son, Rene Charles.

The hospitalization is a preventive measure "to ensure the patient can be in close contact with their doctors and clinical resources, leading up to their birth."

Following a miscarriage, the singer, 42, became pregnant after undergoing in-vitro fertilization a sixth time and turning to acupuncture to improve her chances at pregnancy.

Earlier this year, the singer's husband told PEOPLE they couldn't be happier. "We're ecstatic," he said. "Celine is just hoping for a healthy pregnancy. She was hoping for one baby and the news that we are having two is a double blessing."

I wish them the very best. They both (celine and Rene) seem like genuinely nice people. I know they must have been devasted at the time of her past miscarriage. That situation is always so sad. This time around I hope they have an easy delivery and happy, healthy, twins to take home with them. Best wishes!

You are very lucky Celine. Not only blessed to have a group of people around you who appreciate you and who love you and enjoy working with you but you have been the gift of twins and you won't have to worry like I have.

I was alone during the emergency C-section that I had and I went home with only one baby and my baby was taken out of the room when I had my first doctor visit with Bryan R. Kurtz and he questioned me to see if I knew I had more than one child.

I was very vunerable because if I said that I knew I had more than one baby he may have ripped open my staples. "I don't think you should have anymore children." "My wife only had two babies, Michelle"

I just let them think I didn't know. They brought my baby back and I know that everyone would say how can you think this but in my heart I know its true. I know I had more than one baby but only came home with one.

BUT FOR YOU CELINE DION I WISH YOU ONLY THE BEST AND HOPE THAT YOU ARE SO HAPPY AND HEALTHY... GOD BLESS YOU!!

Why is this Canadian seeking medical in the United States? I thought the Canadian system was great? Besides it will also mean that the two kids she is droping down in good old
Florida are American citizens now. Great! Maybe just maybe our neighbors to the north do not have the great health care system they are always talking about.

I think that 42 is a bit old to be trying to have a child...But hey! To each his own... She should be happy that God blessed her with the 2 she has. I personally would not have a baby at 42 @ 42 you suppose to go out! Live life! I think she might see life a little back wards....Arent you suppose to have the kids, and then travel the world?? I feel bad about what happened but you cant control the nature of a woman's body, even with medicine..

I'm so happy for Celine and all of the others who are 40 and over who are giving birth to children in this day and age. Seriously, what's wrong with those of you who oppose this? The real question is why are kids having kids? If you want to worry about something more substantial, then this is it.

Ok, enough with the sarcasm. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and no need to try and control those that truly have issues with their own lives or they would not be so negative toward something that is so wonderfulas loved and wanted children.. No matter how a child is conceived We all know and realize Celine Dions children are wanted children and they will be loved and taken care of. Look at alot of teenagers having children when they are not even able to take care of themselves let alone a child. Parents help raise or raise their grandchildren. Under 16 should still be wondering what it is like to have a first kiss....not taking care of a child.
Enough said. Love your children and families....they are your life.
