The 'Whip My Hair' video is here, and Willow Smith has transcended from Jada and Will Smith's 9-year-old kiddo to a legitimate star. Seriously -- the video stacks up to the incredibly catchy, Rihanna-sounding song with killer outfits, fun classroom dance pieces and, yes, tons of hair whipping -- with paint!
The video was directed by Ray Kay, who also helmed the sensational shoots for Lady Gaga's 'Poker Face' and Justin Bieber's 'Baby.'
Watch the 'Whip My Hair' video:
Kay told Rap-Up of the video: "I'm really happy to be involved with a project that has such a positive message as this one, and I'm certain people that are watching the video will feel inspired to develop their own individuality and freedom and express their own art after seeing Willow in this video."
In the month since the song hit the airwaves, 'Whip My Hair' has been adopted as an unofficial anthem for pre-teen girls across the country. Almost right out of the gate, several extremely talented kids began devising choreography for the song and uploaded their wizardry to the web. And over the weekend, one enterprising video editor took a feel-good song about hair on 'Sesame Street' and turned it into an on-point mashup of the hit song.
I liked it. It's a nice song and the kids will probably like it also. Now for people on here dissin a 9 year old really? Are you that pathetic that you sit and diss a child she's probably very proud of what she's done. It may not be for you but its a positive song. Grow up folks.
I don't think people are trying to diss her or hateing just cause she is 9 does that mean everybody should like it I for one thinks the song sucks yes she can sing she has talent but just cause u like it does not mean everyone will and another thing I don't like is all her nails and the crap she had on them and the rinestones she had on her eyes like everyone keeps saying she is 9 and will is one of the best actors out there i am just pointing out what I see and saying what I feel
What is wrong with the video? Its cute, its not sexy and appropriate for teen girls. Stop being a hater.Willow, you go girl. They play the song on the radio all the time, its great for young girls.
Why can't kids just be kids anymore? It's sad when a nine year old is encouraged to act like an adult, this is facilitated by her parents, and is praised by society as a whole.
Stop. Just stop. The only thing I can think of that is in worse taste than trying to play the reverse racism game over some nine year old girl's music video, is to actually believe that having a lack of white people in a random given situation can be equated with racism. I've got to tell you, if you applied your logic to a Britney Spears video, black people, middle eastern people, asian people, south american people, basically non-white people...they would have been screaming racist at almost every single god damn one of those videos.
This appears to be a carefully made piece of performance art. There are clean positive and inspiring vignettes througout, to include school and painting as a backdrop. Although I am 67, I wonder what heights and dreams I could have achieved, given family and support systems such as hers? Nine year old Willow has staked her own claim as a rising star.
I love the song. It's just perfect for kids her age. And for the haters....her mother is from Baltimore and her father is from Philly. Trust me, none of the Smith children are going to have the opportunity to get out of control and turn into the Disney princesses: Britney, Christina, LiLo, and, dare I say, Miley.
lol you people need help. The girl is a child yes. But children have talents and play sports, join school bands and other activities. But cant make a friggin video. Is it cause she'll be making more money than most of you? lol the girl was on 106 and in no way shape or form portrayed herself as an adult. There's always something to say and im sure if she hated singing and wanted to quit tomorrow she could. i doubt she was forced to do it. People are so ridiculous today. No wonder why the world is jacked up.
A 9 year old child was singing over and over 'I whip my hair back and forth". I'm sure a lot of very strange people found that very entertaining in ways that would shock and dismay you. What is wrong with her parents? Anything for the franchise?

I'm sure she has talent but I'm not fond of the "auto tune" that has taken over the industry.

So sad to see adults so jealous of a child that they have to rip her apart like that. Keep having fun Willow.

Funny if you think all the implications have to do with "jealousy". Are you 12?
