'Whip My Hair' Video Arrives, Willow Smith Remains Awesome

The 'Whip My Hair' video is here, and Willow Smith has transcended from Jada and Will Smith's 9-year-old kiddo to a legitimate star. Seriously -- the video stacks up to the incredibly catchy, Rihanna-sounding song with killer outfits, fun classroom dance pieces and, yes, tons of hair whipping -- with paint!

The video was directed by Ray Kay, who also helmed the sensational shoots for Lady Gaga's 'Poker Face' and Justin Bieber's 'Baby.'

Kay told Rap-Up of the video: "I'm really happy to be involved with a project that has such a positive message as this one, and I'm certain people that are watching the video will feel inspired to develop their own individuality and freedom and express their own art after seeing Willow in this video."

In the month since the song hit the airwaves, 'Whip My Hair' has been adopted as an unofficial anthem for pre-teen girls across the country. Almost right out of the gate, several extremely talented kids began devising choreography for the song and uploaded their wizardry to the web. And over the weekend, one enterprising video editor took a feel-good song about hair on 'Sesame Street' and turned it into an on-point mashup of the hit song.

She's cute and all, but the song was kind of monotonous. Maybe it's just me, but I think she needs to grow up a little bit and then step into the industry. Kids these days, that start out young like they are, just don't make it when they get older. There are some, but...Like I said, maybe it's just me.

I'd like to see her in a few years when she's maybe 16 or 17 and has learned a bit from her mom and dad!

And what is wrong with celebrity kids following it their parents footsteps. And who else should help her if not her parents? It is the same for any parent- doctor, lawyer etc. whose kid is interested in the business they are in. Just like for your kids, one day they may say "Dad, I want to be just like you, will you help me get a job at McDonalds like you", and you will say 'you betcha" and they'll be dropping fries and biggie sizing before you know it. BTW, that shade of hate (green)looks horrible on you.

Nepotism that's what makes Will Smith world go round. What a joke.
Anybody that buys into this crap needs their head examined. Dont you
have enough money to take care of your family already. But my little
willow wants to be a star so I have to buy that for her as well as

your daughter Willow? Why dont you paint a beard on her face and just

I hate the song. I don't get what the song's about . . . what's the deal about whipping your hair back and forth, and why does that matter to anyone?? That repetitive phrase is torture, like hearing a constantly barking dog. And what's up with that lip jewelry? That's too much for a child.

Cute kid,cute video. The song has a nice concept but other than that its fairly annoying. Willow, you're very talented and i look forward to seeing you be successful!

And its incredible how much she looks like her brother!

She's only 9 years old. Why can't kids be kids? What's the rush to stardom? Her parents don't need the money.
I would not let my 9 year old child do this. She should be a kid and no hair extensions.

Everyone is screaming how Will and Jada are such bad parents because they are "exploiting" their children...How is this wrong? This is a disgusting video. I am shocked that the Smith Family would allow such a video to be made with their young daughter. Im sorry but this is totally inappropriate behavior for a girl this age. I'm sorry..this song sucks! It gives me a headache. I am a HUGE Will Smith fan and surprised that this is what he has his daughter singing. He has such talent and an eye for talent..he can't actually think this is good. Maybe she does have a pretty voice and lots of talent like her parents...so give her a better song than this PLEASE!

Please can someone explain to me why are her parents in such a hurry for her to grow up? She is only 9 years old. Im sorry but doesnt Will Smith make enough money for his children to just be children for as long as they can. Their son Jaden is doing movies and now their little girl has a singing career. Yes I know that my opinion does not matter, but please when will someone just say no. What is wrong with the school play and choir?
