'Whip My Hair' Video Arrives, Willow Smith Remains Awesome

The 'Whip My Hair' video is here, and Willow Smith has transcended from Jada and Will Smith's 9-year-old kiddo to a legitimate star. Seriously -- the video stacks up to the incredibly catchy, Rihanna-sounding song with killer outfits, fun classroom dance pieces and, yes, tons of hair whipping -- with paint!

The video was directed by Ray Kay, who also helmed the sensational shoots for Lady Gaga's 'Poker Face' and Justin Bieber's 'Baby.'

Kay told Rap-Up of the video: "I'm really happy to be involved with a project that has such a positive message as this one, and I'm certain people that are watching the video will feel inspired to develop their own individuality and freedom and express their own art after seeing Willow in this video."

In the month since the song hit the airwaves, 'Whip My Hair' has been adopted as an unofficial anthem for pre-teen girls across the country. Almost right out of the gate, several extremely talented kids began devising choreography for the song and uploaded their wizardry to the web. And over the weekend, one enterprising video editor took a feel-good song about hair on 'Sesame Street' and turned it into an on-point mashup of the hit song.

Why does everything always have to get racial. Leave Mickey alone. He is entitled to an opinion, even if you are I do not agree. Song is ok. She does have talent and it was entertaining. But I too am sick of their family.

Honestly I think she could have done a bit better than repeat those words over and over. It was catchy but then it was just annoying.

Wow, Willow is only 9 years old? She's got some major talent; I definitely see a future star! She's very cute and has a beautiful voice. I didn't like the "I whip my head back and forth" part that played through most of the song (in fact I found it a bit annoying after a while), but when she actually sang, her voice is golden!

everytime I hear this song on radio disney... Just because her parents have money doesn't mean she is a good singer...as well as the brother... Just name and without the last name they wouldn't be famous.

Truly pathetic are you people saying oh, she's got talent, give her a break, it sounds awesome, fun, YIppie doo da. The only reaosn she is there is because who her mother and father are. Their money paid for this, their influence and power in entertainment made this possible. Their are thousands of children her age with 10 times that talent. Believe me this recording and this video had all the beels and whistles added to it to make her appear more talented than she really is. Take that to the bank. She sounds like she is 26 that's normal?

Are you kidding???!!! This is outrageous...such a disappointment for Will Smith to want and allow this for his young daughter. Jada on the other hand...totally expected. We are talking a young girl here with undertons of sexuality all over the place. Sad...sad...sad...what is wrong with you people that you would support this kind of exploitation.
