The 'Whip My Hair' video is here, and Willow Smith has transcended from Jada and Will Smith's 9-year-old kiddo to a legitimate star. Seriously -- the video stacks up to the incredibly catchy, Rihanna-sounding song with killer outfits, fun classroom dance pieces and, yes, tons of hair whipping -- with paint!
The video was directed by Ray Kay, who also helmed the sensational shoots for Lady Gaga's 'Poker Face' and Justin Bieber's 'Baby.'
Watch the 'Whip My Hair' video:
Kay told Rap-Up of the video: "I'm really happy to be involved with a project that has such a positive message as this one, and I'm certain people that are watching the video will feel inspired to develop their own individuality and freedom and express their own art after seeing Willow in this video."
In the month since the song hit the airwaves, 'Whip My Hair' has been adopted as an unofficial anthem for pre-teen girls across the country. Almost right out of the gate, several extremely talented kids began devising choreography for the song and uploaded their wizardry to the web. And over the weekend, one enterprising video editor took a feel-good song about hair on 'Sesame Street' and turned it into an on-point mashup of the hit song.
This video is really cute and I think she is very talented. Your parents can have all the money in the world but it takes talent to make it. Will and Jada have raised some great kids and I love this video. It is for pre teen girls and they need something innocent like this. My granddaughters love. You go Willow.
Not my type of music, but it is a lot better than some of her older-aged counterparts. But really, how young is too young too work? I've had this discussion several times with people. But I just don't know. I think there are more cons than pros.
What did will smith ever do that was so great. Yeah i know he was fresh prince of bel aire and had some hit movies but why is that of so much value? Oh i forgot i live in a dumbed down society
I have to admit it took me a minute to catch on and when it clicked, the market for this song, lyrics and meaning is much deeper than most understand. Perfection!
Not knocking her for doing this video .. it was cute .. loved the hair flip causing the color to appear ... HOWEVER ... This to me is not singing nor (c)rap. Its just a bunch of words blurred together with alot of remixed music ... This was honestly NOT her doing... this was more likely Dad's doing and all she had to do was bop around and be cute. I think MANY KIDS her age could have done this equally well with the same parents.
What I see is a child having a BLAST & showing her great talents... as my husband always says..."a parent is only successful in life, if their child is more successful then they have been"... ( not sure if I quoted it right, but... anyway..) Will & Jada... Keep up the good work!! You've done it right & you are a tough act to follow!! :)
OMG Shes so much better than Justin BEEBER omg is he gay? not that there anything wrong with that. I thought he was a 6 year old girl first time I saw him!!! seriously I cant believe people listen to him! and he thinks he cool an all dat! omg Its laughable!!! All the SMITH family is pure talent!! GO GIRL!
omg no one is ever happy with anything anyone does these days! It's either too this or too that. Who cares that she is a kid? Who says that singing and dancing and having fun is not being a kid? My 10 year old daughter loves this and she loves singing and dancing too and there is NOTHING wrong with that, it's freaking fun! I think the video was very cute and age appropriate. She's 9 leave her alone. Wow what a sad world we live in for GROWN folks to bash a little girl. I sure hope you don't have kids (the haters)!
I liked the video overall; I thought it had a great beat, the lyrics were cute, the dancing was good, it just makes me sad to see a 9-year-old in the middle of it all. There are many adults who can't handle the stress of the music industry and here's a child. Otherwise it was great.
Decent. The transitions are smooth and the concept is interesting to watch as the song unfolds. The auto-tune music culture is a little overplayed amongst artists these days, but she is cute and talented and has potential. If she can find her own musical niche instead of relying heavily on Rhianna, then she could have a very successful musical future. 4 out of 5 stars.
I think its a good song but most of all im glad she is dressed her age! I hate seeing girls dressed in inapropriate clothing. With the parents she has I am sure she will stay do just fine. I don't want to see another Miley Cyrus.
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos

to you people who think her voice is golden. Are you that damn stupid? You actually think a 9 year old sounds like that?
