Time for Jessica Simpson to Let Papa Joe Go?

After Jessica Simpson's manager (and father), Joe Simpson, foolishly kicked a group of singing U.S. combat veterans off his daughter's PBS holiday special, Jessica has been under intense pressure from across the spectrum to fire her dad and hire a real manager.

"Jess is really talented, it's clear that what's holding her career back is her father," an insider tells me. "Joe is impossible to work with and makes terrible decisions that poor Jessica has to put up with. Now, both music and movie people are telling her she needs to let him go."

Barring the troops because Joe didn't approve of their wardrobe (they were in commando pants and blazers, the same outfits they wore when they sang for General David Petraeus on the USS Intrepid) isn't the first time Jessica's manager has put his Texan boot in his mouth.

A few years ago, Papa Joe scheduled and then canceled a meeting between Jessica and President George W. Bush after convincing himself that it wouldn't be a good idea for Jess to attend a Republican fundraiser the night before she met with politicians of both parties to lobby on behalf of the saintly charitable organization Operation Smile.

A friend of the multi-talented beauty tells me that in spite of all the glaring signs that Team Jessica needs a new pilot, Simpson "just can't find it in her heart to let him go."

"Jess knows how much Joe loves being a manager," the friend reveals. "His entire identity is about being her manager, plus he has made a lot of money from her at the same time."

I say go back to being a father, Joe. After all, isn't that really the best job any man could have?

Not surprisngly,this is the "blood thicker than water" idiom at work. Jess could no more fire him than a streetwalker could fire her abusive pimp.

Sure she could and should!! Brooke Shields fired her mom from being her manager -- it happens all the time! Jessica wouldn't be firing her Dad from being her Dad, just from being her manager... Her Dad is the reason she's still not married to Nick Lachey. Her Dad is or was a youth Pastor, not a talent manager! Notice that Ashlee had no issue with doing her own thing, sans Papa Joe? I mean, she's married to a bisexual, didn't wait until marriage for sex or living with a man (the way it was drummed into Jessica to do), and has her own management team... Jessica MUST dump him and get bettter, PROFESSIONAL representation!!!

On one hand, Papa Joe should be congratulated for making gazillionaires (as well as himself)out of two totally talentless daughters. On the other hand, anyone who has had dealings with Joe (and I had the misfortune of doing so), will know that this story is, in all likelihood true. For some reason, Joe thinks that Jessica is a much greater star than she is.

Is Joe hurting her career? What career?

Joe thinks his daughter is too good, to sing in front of our men in uniform. He should have been let go the same day.
His 'better than everyone' attitude, is the very thing that will keep people from paying to see Jessica.
I wouldnt pay to hear her now, after what Joe said.
Not to hurt Jessica, but the fact is if my sons uniform is not good enough for Jessica to see, then I am not going to pay the man for that attitude.
If anything, is Jessica good enough to be in the same room as my son? Not now she isnt.
Joes remark shouldnt be taken lightly. So many people have died due to the war, and this gut says something as he did?
Joe is not much more than dog poo under my shoes now.
