The Comedy Fights Malaria campaign takes a brand-new approach to an age-old health issue, using humor to keep malaria in the spotlight. Featuring a broad range of stars, including Ed Helms, John Mayer, Elizabeth Banks, BJ Novak and Nick Kroll, the organization hopes to raise awareness for the disease."Comedy Fights Malaria is a fresh, different and truly funny way to get people thinking about a serious opportunity to save lives," B.J. Novak, who stars in 'The Office' and is a creative force behind the campaign, said in a press release.
But Comedy Fights Malaria is also quick to note that the disease itself is no laughing matter -- every 45 seconds, a child in Africa dies from malaria.

The irony of this is that Mayer is about as amusing as malaria itself. Noteworthy campaign, though.

Bring back DDT. Since DDT was banned over 50,000,000 people have died of malaria that would have lived had the do-gooders and chicken-littles not forced its ban. Now the data show that DDT was not very harmful, but the politics of enviro-mental-cases will not allow it ever to be re-introduced. They are as good as murderers

Since DDT was "banned" for use on cotton in Texas, the annual malaria death rate has been cut in half, from 2 million each year to under 890,000 per year.
Using your logic, I suppose we could say that since the DDT ban, 50 million lives have been saved.
It would be more accurate to note that we're making great strides against malaria, and DDT can't help much anymore.
Sending people in Africa some mosquito nets would help them more. Too bad he is not funny, just an arrogant douche trying to make himself look like less of a douche.
