Starshell, 'Superluva' -- Video Premiere

For
Starshell, life has always been about music. Even at the age of 5, the singer, aka LaNeah Menzies, had established herself as a performer, belting out the words to her mother's favorite songs at family parties.
Now at 21 years old, the beautiful songstress has come a long way from the coffee table she used as her makeshift stage. In fact, Starshell now holds the title as the first female artist ever signed to
Mary J Blige's record label, Matriarch Records.
In the video for her song 'Superluva,' Starshell channels the 1985 flick '
Weird Science,' in which two nerdy teens use their computer smarts to generate the ideal woman. "The concept of the video came from the idea of creating your perfect mate or 'Superluva,'" Starshell tells PopEater. "The lead stud in my video created his perfect woman. I come to him and take him into my world, where I can be the sexy homegirl, the fun party girl, the super hero magical sexy woman of your dreams and the diva."
On top of the 'Weird Science' influence, Starshell was inspired by '80s pop diva
Cyndi Lauper and her hit 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun.' "'SuperLuva' is a song that reminds me of everything I loved about music as a kid," she explains. "It's a great driving musical composition with a fun upbeat top line melody. Girl power!"
