Will 'Dear John' Stay Mum or Respond to Taylor Swift?

Taylor Swift stunned everyone this week when she graced the cover of PEOPLE and told all about her relationships with Joe Jonas and Taylor Lautner. Now, what has everyone on the edge of their seats is how notorious kiss-and-teller John Mayer is going to respond to what Taylor is probably saying about him in her new song, 'Dear John.'

"Don't you think I was too young to be messed with," Taylor asks in the song (talking about the 33-year-old John?). "Maybe it's you and your sick need to give love and take it away."

There have long been rumors that the two were romantically involved in 2009 while collaborating on 'Half of My Heart,' a track from his last album.

Everyone knows John "loves publicity and lives for this" type of situation, a giddy friend of John's tells me. "She can bet that right now he is sitting in his apartment thinking of some witty way to respond. Writing a response to 'Dear John' called 'Dear Taylor' would be too obvious, so expect something much bigger than that."

And although John's friend has no idea exactly what the crooner will do, his history with the ladies should give Taylor reason to worry. Who can forget the explicit details he gave about Jessica Simpson in a Playboy interview in February. Or how he held a presser to tell the world about his ugly breakup with America's sweetheart Jennifer Aniston.

"Sure Taylor has a right to say whatever she wants but she needs to know she is playing with fire," an insider tells me. Taylor writes, "Don't you think nineteen's too young to be played by your dark, twisted games when I loved you so?"

Yes I do, sweet Taylor, and let's just hope the man you are writing about does too. Although given his track record I wouldn't hold your breath.

Age is just a number. It doesen't matter. If they where 30 apart, it would be different. But it's only like 12 years or something..
But what I don't get, is that John would go out with her.. I was disappointed.

But FYI, I'm only 16, and I would merry John in this minute, if he would stop his games.

I used to like taylor swift, now i'm so sick of her. all her songs are about boys, and breakups, and more boys. can't she write about anything else. the only reason she is even more famous is because of the whole Kayne west at the VMAs.

Don't listen to her if you don't like her. She writes what young girls like to hear. And that involves love, relationships, and breakups. I think she is talented and writes from her heart. Better than singing about sex and booty-shaking and getting low...at least she has a message.

He's in a no-win situation here. No one knows what happened between them except them. There are three sides to this story - his, hers and the truth. For all we know she had a big crush on him and misinterpreted his signals. It's silly and immature for her to throw a public tantrum about it.

I still can't see where they think this girl can sing. She has nothing unique in her voice and every song sounds like she is reading the words, not singing. All I see is her hair flying all over her face.

Jayne, I didn't say it was sick..You used that word..I said it was wrong. Taylor has sang about being an innocent 19 yr old. John Mayer has a reputaion as a playboy.. This is a situation where you wonder why is she dating such a person and with such a huge age gape.

I find it amusing that NOW she thinks she was too young but apparently then thought it was OK. She's so much older and wiser now, what a whole year later? LOL

Innocent 19 yr old>?I doubt it, she sings(screeches,whines) about losing that "innocense" at fifteen.if this is john mayer, she offered, he took it, and then forgot about her.is she dumb enough to actually think he could care about her when he can date the most beautiful women in the world? Giving her that award was part of his job for the night, doesn't mean he meant it. and as far as a duet, its more like she is singing in the backround, where she belongs!
