A bodyguard and wedding guest accompanying Russell Brand on his wedding weekend in India allegedly assaulted photographers who were tailing the groom-to-be on a tiger safari Friday in Ranthambore National Park, according to the Associated Press. A witness says Brand watched the incident from his jeep.

Katy Perry was not in the safari party. The couple are tying the knot today (the British comedian was making a return visit to the park where he proposed to the pop star last December) and have already sold exclusive photo coverage of the festivities to a London magazine.

Two men, a bodyguard and a friend of Brand's, stand accused of initiating yesterday's altercation when they jumped out of their jeep; one aggressor allegedly threw the first punch, clobbering a driver who was transporting four news photographers (employed by Reuters, AP, Agence France-Press and the Hindustan Times) through the park.

Soon the photogs themselves joined the angry brawl, during which a lensman claims his glasses and camera flash were intentionally smashed.

But you'll never believe the scary way the fight ended: The alleged victims say Brand's thugs made off with the keys to their jeep, deserting them (some bleeding) in a park full of wild tigers, leopards and hyenas. Rangers had to rescue the stranded men.

Local police now say Brand and his team will be questioned.
