Mel Gibson Reportedly 'Furious' About 'Hangover 2'

After being cast -- and then replaced by Liam Neeson -- for a comedic cameo in the sequel to the hit 'The Hangover,' Mel Gibson is downright "furious" with producers of the film, according to Page Six.

An insider says, "He doesn't understand why Mike Tyson, a drug user [and convicted rapist, as EW.com points out] who turned his life around, was given a chance while Mel was kicked to the curb. Everybody deserves a second chance."

Gibson seemed to be making inroads on his career comeback -- after his public image was disastrously damaged over the summer by recordings of his angry rants to his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva -- however, the news of his casting in the 'Hangover' sequel was immediately followed by rumors of dissent among the cast. Gibson was swiftly dismissed, and the role of the tattoo artist went to Neeson.

In a statement, Neeson's rep (who also reportedly represents Gibson) winked at the controversy, saying that Neeson would be joining the actors on the 'Hangover 2' set "pending clearance of cast and crew background check."

The drama in Gibson's personal life is making fewer headlines these days, but is far from over. He and Grigorieva are battling over custody and support terms pertaining to their baby daughter, Lucia. The single mom recently called him a "depressed lunatic" in the press, and vehemently denies accusations of extortion, insisting that she had no choice but to record the Oscar winner's rages in order to document his threats.

maybe I just do not get it but we are talking about Mel Gibson right, why would he want to be in a movie like this, it's beneath him.

I guess that the term "Innocent until proven guilty" doesn't have any say in this situation right? I'm not saying that Mr. Gibson doesn't have issues and he does need treatment...And maybe it was a bit early for him to put himself out in the public eye being involved with a film like The Hangover 2...But there are always two sides to a story and nothing has really been resolved or acurately proven involving this sad situation. Apparently noboy wins here.

It's really a shame about Mel Gibson....In his early career he made some pretty good movies. He's had more bad press in the last 5 years than most and ususally because of his drinking problems. I've had enough and sick of hearing about him and will never pay a dime to see him in any more movies. Stupid man.

I think it's simply a "travesty" that a supremely spoiled sophomoric pack of so-called ACTORS can RULE the film industry. LIKE anybody in THAT CAST has EVER DONE anything (frankly) remarkable in THEIR ENTIRE LIVES.

WHO HASN'T DONE THINGS THEY REGRET ?? ... THAT they SHOULD JUDGE MEL GIBSON?

Basically "character" actors, which NEVER had the IMPACT in this industry -- or THE WORLDWIDE audiences Mel has.

The MOVIE going public will rush to see Mel's movies -- regardless. Frankly, Mel's PERFORMANCE is the ANYONE REASON to see that film.

Anyone who could EVER BELIEVE that gold-digger ... doesn't HAVE a brain. He was set-up …. your Hollywood Hypocrites’ are just THAT.

American and he's given an Oscar nomination. Charlie Sheen hits several women and thinks that our government knocked down the Twin Towers on 9/11 and he keeps the top TV show........

The Slug was discovered to be a "well-known" bigot.
I loved the Hangover!! When I heard this A-Hole was cast to be in HO2, I promised not ot see it.
Obviously, the movie's cast members voiced a concern that thousands of movie go-ers might stay away because of Gibson's racist attitude.
GREAT MOVE! Can'y wait to see HO2 now!

Hes furious indeed??? Maybe he'll go on another drunken rant about the cast and crew of Hangover!! Who the hell does he think he is?? He should have thought about his life, image and career before he opened his big mouth. He bragged to the cops in Malibu that HE OWNED MALIBU Hence no one could touch him. Mel Gibson is still knee deep in alcoholism and denial so he shouldn't have even been considered in the first place. Tyson is an issue unto himself. He is a different person than he was, even if Mel is starting the dig out, he doesn't show it, he always looks drunk and until he is out of his hole he is not going to be considered viable acting material. He is still way too volatile.

bgator dismisses the Hangover as "not very good in the first place"....... LOL.... Check the box-office receipts genius and then just admit as farcical, slap-stick and crude as it was it was 1. Hugely appealing to an incredibly vast audience.... 2. It was intellectually above your ability to "get it".... 3. you obviously have no sense of humor and 4. your opinion is hardly worth the time it takes someone to read it...
