Report: Mariah Carey Is Pregnant With a Baby Boy

Although Mariah Carey and husband Nick Cannon are still playing coy about her growing belly, the couple are reportedly having a baby boy, HollyBaby reports.

"She's having a boy, but the reason that Mariah didn't want to say anything is because she is 40, and she's superstitious," the source said. "But she's going to appear on 'Oprah' and 'The View,' so she's planning on making the announcement soon."

While the couple, who wed in 2008, has yet to confirm the news, sources close to the singer tell PopEater the 40-year-old diva is indeed pregnant.

In June, Carey abruptly dropped out of Tyler Perry's new film, setting off speculation that the singer was expecting. Her rep quickly squashed the reports at the time.

Cannon has been the most vocal about the rumors, hinting that the couple's first child is on the way. "I've said it before and I'll say it time and time again -- when my wife feels like talking about whatever she wants to talk about, you will hear it directly from her," Cannon said on his radio show in August. "There's a certain time limit that you're supposed to wait before you actually can officially say that you are."

The pair have not been shy when it comes to talking about babies. According to PEOPLE, Canon has been vocal about wanting to start a family. "We're going to do it," he said in March 2009.

I don't get her, I really don't. I wish them well, but why is she so hell bent on not telling us. This has been going on for a while now. Is she that worried about her looks. She is a pampered puss this one. Talk about high octain.

I want to wish them both many blessings. I have had two miscarriages & know what it is like to feel as she does. After the first trimester it is usually safe to announce your pregnancy. God Bless.

it's not that she's hell bent on not telling us it's she was scared that if she did so too early she would miscarry again which is perfectly natural for someone who has gone through it before. and her ancestry is Black Veneuzelan and Irish not black indian and irish..

the woman I mentioned is a quarter Irish a quarter French A quarter Russian and A quarter Hungarian. her mother is Irish and French and her dad was Russian and Hungarian. I wasn't trying to be racist at all just pointing out that everyone should have a fair shot to have natural children

No I don't she's my favorite singer and the film couple I mentioned happens to be my favorite in their chosen field sure they weren't interracial like Mariah's parents were but they were ethnically mixed as in Christian/Jewish

God can she get to be ANY MORE of a DIVA!? You're 40 NOT 50! I had a baby @ 35 and yes I was considered "high risk" but I still told my friends and family. Just telling people is NOT going to make you miscarry! GET OVER YOURSELF!

it may not but if you announce to early something is more likely to go wrong. and just cause your over 35 doesn't neccessarily mean it's always a high risk pregnancy. losses can happen at any age and naturally make the mother in question scared to celebrate the new child she's expecting. my favorite actress had her youngest daughter about 2 months after her 35th birthday and it wasn't considered high risk though she'd had a miscarriage seven years earlier and 2 older daughters.

they have a right to be private about it if they want to it's their child.as I said previously Mariah maybe a diva on stage but backstage with fans she's really sweet and generous to a fault. we should lay off her she'll announce it when she feels safe to
