Denise Richards: I Went to Hospital With Charlie

After police were called to his hotel room at 2AM Tuesday, where he was found drunk and naked with an escort in his closet, Charlie Sheen was given a choice: jail or treatment. He chose treatment and was admitted to a New York hospital, accompanied by ex-wife, actress Denise Richards.

And while Richards knows many of the details about last night's incident, she's hesitant to share them. "If Charley wants to discuss it, that's his choice ... I don't want to get into it," Richard's told LX New York in her first interview since the incident. "It's a private matter."

She said that her kids "have no idea" about the hotel fracas and that she "does her best to protect them from certain things." Watch Her First Interview, With LX New York:

Later, Richards told 'The Joy Behar Show' that are currently in "an amazing place" and have been "getting along great for the last year, year-and-a-half." She adds, "We're doing our best, so as far as that situation, I'm trying to protect the girls from it as much as possible."

Richards does admit to being at the hospital with Sheen. "I did help him at the hospital," she told Behar.

But that's pretty much all she would say. Any other details would have to come from Sheen, she said. Her biggest priority and concern are their kids, Sam, 6, and Lola, 5.

"My daughters are five and six years old. And they're at an age when they can start to understand, they have no idea what went on and a lot of ... our stuff happened when they were much younger, which I'm so grateful for," she explained.

For the record, Sheen's rep, Stan Rosenfield, told PopEater, "Charlie had an allergic reaction to some medication." Sources also tell PopEater that Sheen has already left the hospital and will be back in Los Angeles Tuesday night.

"I went to hospital." "I went to hospital?" When did AOL's editors start sounding like Tonto in the Lone Ranger? Oh, that's right, AOL doesn't employ any editors. AOL just puts up whatever barfaronie someone types without any pesky editing or proofing.

It could be a Brit writing it...they sometimes use a word in it's verb form as opposed to noun form, thereby dropping "the" in front of it.
