Evan Rachel Wood Says Marilyn Manson Helped 'Raise Her'

Despite an oft-truculent relationship with Marilyn Manson that ended in the middle of their engagement, Evan Rachel Wood still expresses strong feelings for the Goth-metal icon, telling Nylon Magazine he had a permanent impact on her.

"He had a hand in raising me!" Wood says. "Oh I'm always gonna love that guy. He's a genius, he's an amazing artist, we're still friends. Some things just aren't meant to be."

The couple's history has always been rocky -- the goth rocker and Wood, who has starred in films like 'Whatever Works' and 'Across the Universe,' began dating in 2006, split in 2008, got back together, split, became engaged after Manson proposed onstage in Paris in January, and called it quits in August.

Although for the most part Wood has always had good things to say about Manson, the dark rocker has historically been more lucid and harsh about his feelings. Back in June 2009 before before getting back together from their first breakup, SPIN asked Manson about Wood, and he said, "I have fantasies every day about smashing her skull in with a sledgehammer."

Wood is in the process of starring in a movie directed by George Clooney called 'Farragut North.' While discussing the older actor with Nylon, Wood relays a conversation that threw her off. "He goes, 'You're really good at going from innocent to sexy in the drop of a hat,' and I was like, 'I don't know what you're talking about!'"

Either that or he is just "playing a part" of the Dark Goth Rocker, and she found it sexy. Idiot. She is lucky she is away from him.
