Kara DioGuardi Lands Bravo Reality Show

Former 'American Idol' judge Kara DioGuardi is back in the game with her own reality TV series, 'Going Platinum.' 'Platinum' will be a songwriting competition that pits contestants (who will live together) against one another, as they vie for a $100,000 grand prize.
"Hit songs are the backbone of the music industry, and as a publisher, nothing excites me more than finding new songwriting talent," DioGuardi told
PEOPLE. "I am happy to be a part of a show that helps up-and-coming songwriters pursue their dreams, while giving the public a look into the creative process."
She will be head judge on the 10-episode series. Singer Jewel will serve as host. 'Going Platinum' is scheduled to premiere next year, Bravo announced Tuesday.
DioGuardi, who has written hit songs for such artists as Carrie Underwood and Pink, was a judge on 'American Idol' for two seasons before she was ousted earlier this year. FOX quietly issued a press release in September confirming the 39-year-old singer-songwriter-producer would not return as a judge on 'Idol.'
According to
EW.com, FOX's announcement included this statement from DioGuardi: "I felt like I won the lottery when I joined 'American Idol' two years ago, but I feel like now is the best time to leave 'Idol' ... It has truly been an amazing experience. I am grateful to FOX, FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, as well as the cast, crew and contestants, for all they have given to me. I look forward to my next challenge, and want to thank everyone who has supported me. All the best to everyone on Season 10!"

"Going Platinum" = "Survivor" meets "Big Brother" meets "AI" = FAIL

How about some quality shows. Why all the garbage??? No creativity anymore. Just more of the same. Sad.
Geez, when is Bravo going to break out the 3 legged alien reality show.

I'll tell you what, I'll watch Kara's show before I ever watch AI again. They totally ruined it. I wouldn't be surprised if they cancel AI before the season ends--no Simon, no Paula=BIG TIME FAIL

I agree. But I believe that another MAJOR failing for the show was the fraud that kept A. L. from winning the title, while the producers of the show did nothing to correct the inequities. Too Bad.
Who cares if Kara DiGuardio gets a reality show. It's a waste of air. She's an air bag. I always muted her when she was judge of AI. I'm not a fan, and won't be watching. Bravo is scrapping the bottom on the barrel on this one.

I like Bravo and most of their shows, even the silly ones. But this new one sounds lame.

I can imagaine that without makeup she's as homely as her father.

Chris Dagnon is one of the most talented, undiscovered songwriters around and would be perfect for this show.
