'Teen Mom' Stars Earn $60,000 Per Season

The young parents of MTV's hit show
'Teen Mom' are making a pretty good living for being a bunch of teenagers. A series insider exclusively tells
Life & Style magazine that the "stars earn $60,000 to $65,000 per season." That's more than many reality stars, but not as much as their fellow MTVers at the 'Jersey Shore' or 'The Hills,' whose stars used to make between $90-125,000
per episode.
"It's a monster hit," an insider tells me. "With ratings like that they deserve to be well compensated."
Indeed it's one of the biggest shows on the network and judging by amount of magazine covers they grace, the 'Teen' stars are arguably more bankable than those 'Jersey' boys and girls.
The $60k a year is enough money to provide on-again off-again couple Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley with comfortable lives, but neither one seems to be a good saver. "Gary says he's broke," Gary's best friend, Jordan Sanchez, tells Life & Style. "The money is the only reason he's willing to do the show. You can't walk away from money like that."
Which is exactly the case and Amber and Gary have already started filming the next season of the show.
"They're filming in Tennessee," Jordan says, but they are talking about moving to Florida, where Amber's uncle owns a business.
Amber has another reason to need more cash flow: lawyers fees. As you may have heard, the fiery teen is being investigated for domestic violence by police in Anderson, Ind. and the state Department of Child Services for incidents ON THE SHOW where she physically hit her then-boyfriend in front of their daughter, Leah.
When confronted about the situation by Dr. Drew Pinsky on the 'Teen Mom' reunion show last week, Amber broke down in tears and claimed to have "blacked out" during the incident, saying she only remembers striking Gary once.
Please make this stop. Please.

Amber and Gary will blow every dime they get their hands on. I hope the are forced to put back money for the baby.

Maybe you wanna check it out or tell your friends..
if they dont eat it first
Amber is abusive and depressed which is a trigger....the doctor should know this and do something...That baby should go to gary's mother until amber gets her act together...They are both lousy parents......
for years black teens have children and they are portrayed as worthless. white teens have babies and they are put on tv and made into stars.
Being a wh*re pays well.......people donating money to help them pay for college...idiots.....and of course the show paints them as poor kids who gotta live at home and people believe it...bigger idiots

wow. your a ignorant fool. just because your a teen mom doesn't mean your a wh*re. I am a teen mom, I am 19 and been with the same guy since i was 14, I've never even kissed another guy. So maybe before you open your rude mouth, get your facts straight.
Damien - What it is is the media rewarding irresponsible behavior. Believe you me, if these girls had it to do over again? They would have never created these children. Their lives, as they knew it, changed forever and I guarantee they aren't happy with the result. Sure, it was fun while they were pregnant being the center of attention but after delivery and the first real night with a screaming infant? Trust me, they rethought their choices. Heather - a mother at 19? With the same 'guy' since you were 14? Your parents need swift kick in the arse. You shouldn't be hooking up with some 'guy' at 14! You were still a child! A mother at 19? You have been robbed. I am twice your age (and please, your generation didn't invent premarital sex or illigitimate births) and the last thing you should be doing at 19 is raising a child. You yourself aren't finished much less brining a baby into it. If you don't now, you will eventually regret your choices. Oh, and did you and this 'guy' marry yet? Don't tell me that doesn't matter because if you can't take his name (which is something you can change) then you should mix DNA with him (a baby - you two are linked together now for all eternity - something you can't change). Teen moms piss me off. How irresponsible to yourself and that poor baby.
Katie, who are you one to judge someone? I am 23 years old a wife and a mother of a 4 almost 5 year old child. I had him at 18 and yes I was married and still am married to the same guy. NO it wasn't the only guy I ever hooked up with, but we were together in H.S and still are together. She will regret her choice? HMMMM thats funny because I never once regretted my baby, and wouldnt have had it any other way. Before you go off judging someone maybe you need to judge yourself?
Oh screw off Amanda. Most young women end up either divorced or resenting all they lost by expediting something that could clearly wait. That's not my opinion - that's a reflection of the divorce rate, welfare rolls, data taken from divorce proceedings, psychiatrists, etc. I think it's wonderful you are happy RIGHT NOW. See me in 10 years. The overwhelming amount of divorce, etc., starts with people who marry or have children before 25. Sorry, but that is reality and not my opinion. Number one reason for divorcing when the marriage took place prior to 25? Or they had a child prior to 25? They grew apart. You know why? They weren't grown to begin with. That's why you see this mess of a show. Regretting the baby isn't the problem. Regretting all you missed due to rushing a process that doesn't need rushing is the problem. 23? I am twice your age. You can't tell me anything. I have seen enough to know better.
you got it right damien. in this age of the tea baggers
and the wink wink palin christians, you get a lot
of bristol palins.
the momma is also taking us all for a ride, winking and
laughing all the way to the bank.
let's see how she "refudiate" this. lol.
Well speaking as a child of a teen mom. My mom had just turned 18 when she had me and now I'm turning 18. I know my mom misses that she couldn't party it up all the time with her friends but never once would she change her mind and decide not to have me. I'm the greatest joy in her life and she is my best friend. I can tell her anything and get advice and know that yes she might be mad at me for a second but she isn't going to flip out and judge me. Her and my father aren't married they tried but it didn't work but she is happily married now. I don't think you should judge people because of the statistics of divorce rates or welfare you don't know everyone in this country who is in that situation. Yall need to grow up and learn to say your opinion that way[Mrs. Katie with your "I'm twice your age" Act like it then. I wouldn't claim that if i was you since your talking like a child]
This makes no sense, theses young people are making 60,000. But they sit and cry about money, and that there broke, etc. That changes the whole show for me. Because I thought, this show was not just about the struggles of being a teen mom, but about the financial struggles also.I guess they have to make something, but I had no idea that much. Where do we sign up to be on this show, so we can make that money?????

their parents did not teach them the value of a dollar and self respect. they expect everything to be given to them and only the best, not used.
I feel ya about this. I am a guy and would get pregnant to make that kinda cash.........lol
yeah, why the hell is farrah crying about being ripped off for that 3 grand and not being able to afford rent when she's making 60g per season...
I do like this show and watch it every week. I understand them making money but now that I have read this I believe that the only one suffering from this show is their poor baby girl, Leah. I think the rest of the moms have it together and that Amber and gary make the disputes they do just to get more attention.. More attention means more money.. I believe maybe they are the ones who should have thought about adoption instead of catliyn & tyler because they would have made great parents and someday will ..

I agree, Caitlyn and Tyler are my fav. Amber nor Gary need custody of Leah, they're both crazy, lazy sacks of skin.
This crap makes me sick. I'm a 29 year old guy and I've been raising 2 kids by myself(while serving in the Army) for almost 10 years, and I did it on considerably less than 60k a year. Where's my reality TV show? These girls wouldn't know the reality of raising kids as a teen parent if it kicked them in the face.

You hot the nail on the head! Who's reality is this!
I have counseled teen moms and dads, and this is certainly not their reality.
What I see are two spoiled self indulgent brats setting a very poor example for their child.
I send you Kudos for stepping up to the plate and taking care of your children. THAT is what a parent does
