'Teen Mom' Stars Earn $60,000 Per Season

The young parents of MTV's hit show
'Teen Mom' are making a pretty good living for being a bunch of teenagers. A series insider exclusively tells
Life & Style magazine that the "stars earn $60,000 to $65,000 per season." That's more than many reality stars, but not as much as their fellow MTVers at the 'Jersey Shore' or 'The Hills,' whose stars used to make between $90-125,000
per episode.
"It's a monster hit," an insider tells me. "With ratings like that they deserve to be well compensated."
Indeed it's one of the biggest shows on the network and judging by amount of magazine covers they grace, the 'Teen' stars are arguably more bankable than those 'Jersey' boys and girls.
The $60k a year is enough money to provide on-again off-again couple Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley with comfortable lives, but neither one seems to be a good saver. "Gary says he's broke," Gary's best friend, Jordan Sanchez, tells Life & Style. "The money is the only reason he's willing to do the show. You can't walk away from money like that."
Which is exactly the case and Amber and Gary have already started filming the next season of the show.
"They're filming in Tennessee," Jordan says, but they are talking about moving to Florida, where Amber's uncle owns a business.
Amber has another reason to need more cash flow: lawyers fees. As you may have heard, the fiery teen is being investigated for domestic violence by police in Anderson, Ind. and the state Department of Child Services for incidents ON THE SHOW where she physically hit her then-boyfriend in front of their daughter, Leah.
When confronted about the situation by Dr. Drew Pinsky on the 'Teen Mom' reunion show last week, Amber broke down in tears and claimed to have "blacked out" during the incident, saying she only remembers striking Gary once.
Please make this stop. Please.

Kudos to you for doing what so many dont. There are lots of us good girls out here looking for an upstanding guy like you.
Kudos both for being a good, responsible parent and for serving your country. People like you are few and far between and I have nothing but respect. Bless you.
why do we keep rewarding bad behavior?

EXACTLY!!! GLORIFYING DEADBEAT KNOCKED UP TEENS!!!!! HERE WE GO AGAIN!
because people are getting stupid.
I totally agree! I've only watched the show a couple of times and I'm not impressed. Now seeing how much money they get, in my mind, will only encourage teenagers to WANT to get pregnant in hopes they too will make this kind of money. It's ridiculous! Way too many teenagers are getting pregnant and seem to have the idea that it's no big deal raising kids. Hmmmm, wonder why the foster care system is overflowing with kids. Not even get me started on how many are on welfare and KEEP having kids!!!!
For any of you morons that don't know it yet. All of these so called Reality shows ,are all done with scripts. Not one word ottered is ther on doing. They are given a script as what to say an do,Period.

Stop the name-calling. Act like an adult.
I'm wondering if April, Catelynn's mom, was paid? She did appear on the reunion.

Lets see if I got this right. These under age teenagers are horny. They dont use a condom . Decide to keep the baby. Now they get cast in a lame TV show where they can make 65 grand for bad behavior and getting knocked up. Only in America. Same goes for the Jersey Shore idiots.

Agreed!
Doesn't it make you sick, I hate this generation!

I do have a 15 year old girl, and these shows are really bad, I don't like them, she does watch some of them, I don't agree, but I have raised her to understand they are just shows. I have talked to her a lot.... and I mean a lot.. I think it is really bad that they pay these kids. Why?? They get paid for wrong reasons. What does this tell our kids??? I pray my daughter knows better then these kids. Sad, that we have these shows on T.V. Why do we watch them???
Im GLAD!! You dont have small teenagers or small children either!!
The amount of money these teen "stars" are making off of making irresponsible life choices is sickening. MTV, if you really want to send a message to potential future teen parents, pay the participants minimum wage.

I agree they are being rewarded for making mistakes. The real world is not getting rich for having a baby when you are in your teens.
Maybe making all that money Amber and Gary can now afford a good therapist to make her stop abusing him and him grow a backbone.

They are making all this money and Farrah always crying about not having money and having to work all these hours to support her kid, what the hell is she doing with the money. Next to amber , farrah was the worst mom on the show.
