Celine Dion Reveals Twins Names: Eddy and Nelson

Days after giving birth to fraternal twin boys,
Celine Dion has announced their names -- Eddy and Nelson,
PEOPLE reports.
Both names are significant for the singer and her husband, Rene Angelil. Eddy is named after Eddy Mornay, the producer who worked on Dion's first five albums.
Mornay was like a father to Dion. "Eddy is a major influence in both Celine and Rene's lives," her rep explained.
Meanwhile, Nelson Mandela was the inspiration for their other son's name. "Rene said that in just the few minutes they were able to spend with him, they were impressed by the human being he is," the rep continued.
"Celine and Rene want their children to be inspired by their names, because they were so inspired by these men," the rep added.
Dion's new sons were born prematurely at 5 lbs., 10 oz., and 5 lbs., 4 oz., respectively, but are healthy. They will reportedly spend a few days in neonatal intensive care, a common procedure for newborn twins, who often arrive before their due date.
At a press conference outside St. Mary's Medical Center, Dion's longtime obstetrician talked about the successful delivery -- and what the babies look like.
Dr. Ronald Ackerman -- whose son, Dr. Joshua Ackerman, also assisted in the delivery -- explained that the surgery to deliver the babies went as expected, with the first boy born at 11:11AM and the second born at 11:12AM. He also said that both babies were born with a "good amount" of hair.

I DID read the article but Nelson Eddy was an old movie star and for those of us old enough to know that, these names just sound hillarious. Nevertheless, I applaud the parents for naming the boys after people who will be role models in their lives.
I can't believe stuff like this is news worthy........

Your opinion, I see that you care enough to read and post........hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?????
You should know by now that anything a "star" does in their life is newsworthy. You see it every day in the news or on TV. Celebrities cannot turn around without it being reported.
How nice twin boys...enjoy, I'm so happy for the both of you, and you chose "NORMAL" names, not weird names like a lot of the other famous people do, possibly giving their kids a hard life of bing teased.

Congrats to Celine and Rene - she's a performer and celebrity who's one in a million - talented, humble, nice to her fans and has a great sense of humor and is a good sport, and laughs along (and doesn't get angry) when folks like Kathy Griffin or Will Farrell make fun of her. She knows it's a joke. Love you, Celine!

Some really stupid posts here. Where do some of you get your line of thought? Did anyone, esp. the parents ask for your approval on the names? Frankly they did not owe us or anyone the reason behind the names. The names are their choice and for their reasons and frankly I wish those trying to make clever statements just go away and talk to themselves.

Ya know..she's never been my cup-o-tea...but I have always thought she was genuine..if not a bit saccharine. Happy to hear the babes are healthy.

I'ts Actually Marnay, after Eddie MARNAY not Mornay. The phonetics of "Mornay" would actually be the same as "stillborn" ("Mort-né"). Watch your spelling, that's dreary... to say the least.
