Battling Cancer, Michael Douglas Visits Son in Prison

Despite his grueling treatments for advanced throat cancer, Michael Douglas has been making regular three-hour trips to see his son, Cameron, in prison in Pennsylvania.

Douglas, 66, is recovering from chemotherapy and radiation. Cameron, 31, is serving a five-year drug-related prison sentence.

"Michael is still visiting with Cameron," the actor's longtime friend and publicist Allen Burry tells RadarOnline.com. "He's not going every day and not as often as he would like, but he is still visiting with him."

Burry also gave a general update on the elder Douglas' condition, saying he is in good spirits. "Michael completed his treatment about three weeks ago and is recuperating from the process. No further treatments are scheduled."

Cameron is scheduled for release in December 2013, but could get out up to a year early if he successfully completes a drug treatment program. He was sentenced in April; Michael Douglas called the punishment "adequate" at the time.

Douglas spoke to Men's Journal about Cameron earlier this year: "I just want to talk to him about what he's going to accomplish there besides working out and playing on the softball team. What tools is he going to be able to work on?"

I pray that Michael will recover. HIs little ones need him but even more so does Cameron. If Michael does get well again he should spend a lot more time with Cameron when he gets out of jail. He didn't spend enough time with him when he was younger...

My Prayers as well to the entire Douglas Family! And Catherine~ ALWAYS the Lady~surely is trying so hard to hold on! A special Prayer that someone, somewhere is helping her to hold her spirits up for the sake of her Beloved Husband! Such a good girl! So brave! She IS doing a good job. I also finished my treatment for exactly the same cancer 3 weeks ago at MD Anderson in Houston. I have never smoked, always worked out and ate perfectly. Sometimes it is the luck of the draw. I still can not eat and have a feeding tube. It is very difficult but my follow up is on November 17,18 and 19 to see my status. I love this , So does My boyfriend .he is almost 11year older than me .i met him via age'gapsingles.c'om a nice place for seeking age le ss love.which gives you a chance to make your life better and open opportunities for you to meet the attractive young girls and treat you like a king. Maybe you wanna check it out or tell your friends..

If his son had been caught in California, he would have been out in hours, not years. Michael should try to get his kid transferred to a California prison.

It has nothing to do with where he was arrested. He was found guilty on federal charges, not state charges. Therefore, the federal government will house him in whatever prison they want and whatever state they want. He will be released when his sentence is over.

My younger brother is going through the same treatments at the moment (he never smoked) and I include you in my prayers! This is one of the toughest cancer treatments and my heart goes out to you! May God lay his hands on you both to fully recover!

Do you read? His cancer was advanced because doctors would not listen to him. That happened to me. I had a growth on my thyroid and it was cutting off my swallowing and breathing. One doctor was more interested in getting me on hormone treatment as I had already gone through menopause. His doctors would not listen to him either and now he is in advance cancer.

tell that to my 46 year old daughter that was diagnosed on aug 15 with metastic cancer everywhere from the cervix to the gall bladder, liver pancreas, stomach, bones brain..lungs now filling with fluid as is the rest of her body.. we researched everything and at this stage there is nothing anyone can do.

Some of the real killer drugs that no one goes to prison for, but rather, to their graves:

"Nearly 20 years ago, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) reported that tobacco smoking increased risks of cancers of the lung, oral cavity (mouth), pharynx, larynx, oesophagus (squamous-cell carcinoma), pancreas, bladder and renal pelvis (the kidney outlet). Smokers are much more likely to develop these cancers than non-smokers: between 3 times more for pancreas cancer and 20 times more for lung cancer."

While that information IS real interesting, Ray, how would the studies you quoted explain the death of Christopher Reeves' late wife, Dana, who died of lung cancer having never smoked in her life? I appreciate your quote but somehow feel a post like that might be more appropriate on another site; perhaps the American Cancer Society? When someone is sick, they truly do NOT need to read someone advising them-vaguely-that it's all their fault!
