'Sopranos' Actress Denise Borino-Quinn Dies at 46

Denise Borino-Quinn, who unexpectedly won a role as a mafia wife on 'The Sopranos' after she attended an open casting call, has died. She was 46. The Farmer Funeral Home in Roseland, N.J., said Borino-Quinn died Wednesday after a long battle with liver cancer. Her husband, Luke Quinn Jr., had died in March.

A Roseland native who lived in Bordentown, Borino-Quinn had no acting experience when she was hired in 2000 to play Ginny Sacrimoni, the mafia wife with a weight problem. The character quickly became popular with fans and was featured in an October 2002 episode.

Borino-Quinn had attended the casting call mostly to support a childhood friend and was shocked when she was hired for the HBO show.

When she wasn't acting, Borino-Quinn worked at a New Brunswick law firm.

I hate to say that, and I don't like being judgmental, and I am very sorry for her death. I am a personal trainer, and her obesity may have had something to do with it. I am not a doctor, so I am not positive. So please don't judge me. It is terrible to see such a young woman die.

I know she was fighting cancer but it happens ALOT where one spouse dies and the surviving spouse goes not long after. Maybe because it's hard to keep up the fight alone.

Denise was a wonderful caring wife, daughter, sister, aunt, & person. She was always so full of life, regardless of what she was faced with. The sudden loss of her mom, her liver cancer(which has NOTHING to do with her weight!), & the sudden death of her husband. But Denise, continued on with a smile, vitality & zest for life, no matter how hard it was to go on. Because she knew first hand how VERY precious life is & how, in an instant, it can change. She is loved & will be missed by all of us. But she, her mom, & her husband will be in our hearts & prayers always. And our tribute to them will be to enjoy EACH & EVERY day as if it is our last. God Bless

This is very sad news. My heart goes out to her family. Losing two loved ones so very close together is very hard.

when you are that overweight it does put alot of stress on your heart.one thing I noticed about her was she had beautiful eyes.and she did a good acting job.
