Charlie Sheen Files for Divorce, Seeks Joint Custody

Charlie Sheen reportedly is filing for divorce from Brooke Mueller

After a wild weekend in New York, Charlie Sheen filed to end his marriage to his estranged wife Brooke Mueller Monday and stated in documents that the couple separated the same day as a Christmas 2009 altercation that led to assault charges against the veteran actor.

Sheen cited irreconcilable differences for the divorce and indicated in court filings in Los Angeles that the couple have a prenuptial agreement. He is also seeking joint physical and legal custody of their 1 1/2-year-old twin boys, Bob and Max, but is asking a judge not to award his wife any spousal support. In a separate divorce filing, Mueller seeks primary physical custody of the boys with visitation for Sheen.

The pair, who have been living apart since April, signed divorce agreement papers back in May but never filed the documents in court. The duo, who married in 2008, made headlines on Christmas day when Sheen was arrested on domestic violence charges in Aspen, Colorado. He allegedly assaulted Mueller and threatened her with a knife. The 'Two and a Half Men' star spent part of Christmas in an Aspen jail cell. The actor was charged with felony menacing, misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor criminal mischief.

Sheen and Mueller have both since entered rehab in separate programs.

Oddly enough, Mueller recently stood by Sheen's side following his alleged drunken, naked, hotel-trashing outburst in New York. "Charlie is a survivor. He knows how to handle himself," she told Extra. "You know how things get blown out of proportion," she said.

HE divorced HER??? This is really funny. Guess his lawyer had a faster BMW and filed the papers at the courthouse 15 minutes before her lawyer did. LMAO - only in LaLaLand - the Land of Fruits and Nuts.

Why would any woman be dumb enough to get involved and then have children with this poor excuse of a man! Obviously they are just as sick as he is - the only difference being that he has money, which is what he contintually uses to buy his way out of trouble.

No consequences for Charlie. He will hit a bottom one of these days. Just wish he'd stop getting married and most of all, having kids. Charlie has no business having children. He is a child himself and as an addict has no wisdom to make him a good parent. Why women get pregnant by him is a mystery, except for the excessive amounts of money he makes.

Is he talented? Yes, no question! It's just sad that he is still Peter Pan and doesn't take responsibility for his actions, especially the effect his addictions and lack of stability have on his children.

A real tragedy, no matter how much money he makes. Very, very sad.

I think that both Charlie and Lindsey need an intervention staged by Robert Downey, Jr. He really staightened out and they need to hear from him how he was able to do it.
