Charlie Sheen Files for Divorce, Seeks Joint Custody

Charlie Sheen reportedly is filing for divorce from Brooke Mueller

After a wild weekend in New York, Charlie Sheen filed to end his marriage to his estranged wife Brooke Mueller Monday and stated in documents that the couple separated the same day as a Christmas 2009 altercation that led to assault charges against the veteran actor.

Sheen cited irreconcilable differences for the divorce and indicated in court filings in Los Angeles that the couple have a prenuptial agreement. He is also seeking joint physical and legal custody of their 1 1/2-year-old twin boys, Bob and Max, but is asking a judge not to award his wife any spousal support. In a separate divorce filing, Mueller seeks primary physical custody of the boys with visitation for Sheen.

The pair, who have been living apart since April, signed divorce agreement papers back in May but never filed the documents in court. The duo, who married in 2008, made headlines on Christmas day when Sheen was arrested on domestic violence charges in Aspen, Colorado. He allegedly assaulted Mueller and threatened her with a knife. The 'Two and a Half Men' star spent part of Christmas in an Aspen jail cell. The actor was charged with felony menacing, misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor criminal mischief.

Sheen and Mueller have both since entered rehab in separate programs.

Oddly enough, Mueller recently stood by Sheen's side following his alleged drunken, naked, hotel-trashing outburst in New York. "Charlie is a survivor. He knows how to handle himself," she told Extra. "You know how things get blown out of proportion," she said.

Charlie Sheen is such a GROSS GROSS, UGLY little toad! With his beady brown eyes, big nose and thin lips I don't know how ANY woman would even want the guy for anything BUT his money! No wonder he is so in to hookers. He has to look in the mirror at himself every day and has to wonder why anyone would ever be with him! What a nasty, ugly, ridiculous example of celebrity! They really should just stop giving him parts because I'm SO SICK of him and all his bulls**t! Go back to the dirt pile you climed out of Charlie Sheen! Your poor family! Poor US! Who CARES anymore??!! PLEASE STOP writing about this dirtball!

Any judge who gives this man joint custody or even unsupervised visitation should have their head examined. He's a ticking time bomb and no place for a child.

It's time that the judges for these hollywood people follow the law! Charlie Sheen is a prime example for being the pretencious person who gets away with anything and everything. I'm tired of it. Why do they get special treatment? Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, etc. Why are they enabled? Sorry, but what's good for one is good for all. Sheen doesn't deserve the money he get and should be fired from his show. He should be told that for that kind of money he needs to be "good publicity" for that show and if there is any negative publicity, he's OUT. The same goes for football players, other actors and athletes too. They should be shining examples for their employers and grateful that they have the jobs that they have. Instead we get athletes and actors with pea's for brains. And their payscale needs to be knocked down, it's ridiculous the kind of pay that they get. No wonder our country is in alot of financial trouble. Grow up Charlie Sheen, Brett Farve, Michael Vick, etc., grow up!
