First 'Twilight' got blamed for crazy people stabbing a guy and drinking his blood, and now 'Harry Potter' is getting heat for Indian Owls being hunted, traded and killed. According to BBC News, Indian Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh thinks J.K. Rowling's franchise is responsible for spiking the owl market."Following 'Harry Potter,' there seems to be a strange fascination even among the urban middle classes for presenting their children with owls," Ramesh says.
A report conducted by conservation group Traffic suggested tough measures should be put in place to protect owls from an upcoming Hindu festival since thousands of owls are sacrificed on Hindu "auspicious occasions."

If thousands of owls are sacrificed on Hindu "auspicious occasions" and owls are sold in Indian markets, it doesn't make any sense to lay the blame on Harry Potter.

It's about time parents take responsibility for their over indulgent children. After 101 Dalmations breeders could not keep the dogs in stock, and they are not the best breed to have with children. Parents need to realize that you don't need to deplete the planet everytime there is a new "fad". Educate your children and make them more aware of our over exploited planet.
