George Bush Reflects on Kanye West's 'Racist' Remark

George W. Bush sat down with Matt Lauer for an
interview surrounding the release of his presidential memoir 'Decision Points,' and yes,
Kanye West's "George Bush doesn't care about black people" remark came up.
"It was one of the most disgusting moments in my presidency," Bush tells Lauer.
Read on.
"That [means] 'he's a racist,'" Bush says of West's comment. "And I didn't appreciate it then. I don't appreciate it now. It's one thing to say, 'I don't appreciate the way he's handled his business.' It's another thing to say, 'This man's a racist.' I resent it, it's not true."
In the book, W. writes that Kanye's televised remark "represented an all-time low."
Lauer then read the Kanye passage from Bush's memoir in the interview, and the former president commented: "Yeah. I still feel that way as you read those words. I felt 'em when I heard 'em, felt 'em when I wrote 'em and I felt 'em when I'm listening to 'em."
At the time, in 2005, Bush was hard-pressed to think of a worse moment of his time in office, and told his wife Laura the same. "My record was strong, I felt, when it came to race relations and giving people a chance. And it was a disgusting moment."
Lauer went on to assert -- leading the way for media headlines proliferating as this is written -- that Bush definitively considers West's diss as the toughest moment in his eight-year presidency. "You're not saying that the worst moment in your presidency was watching the misery in Louisiana. You're saying it was when someone insulted you because of that," Lauer grills.
Bush's response? "No, and I also make it clear that the misery in Louisiana affected me deeply as well. There's a lot of tough moments in the book. And it was a disgusting moment, pure and simple."
UPDATE: 3:45 P.M. 11/03/10
Kanye commented on Bush's interview with Houston DJ Devi Dev of Hot 97.9 The Boxx, saying he sympathized for the former President, according to All Hip Hop News.
"I can understand the way he feels to be accused of being a racist in a way, because the same thing happened to me where I got accused of being a racist," said on Nov. 3 in an interview.
The full interview will air on NBC on Nov. 8 at 8PM.

Your proof? Just your belief? Or do you actually have some type of substantial proof that he is? Poor and slow reaction to a national disaster? I guess that makes Obama someone who hates the environment given his disregard for the Gulf oil spill given your idiotic way of thinking. You are what is wrong with this country - prove your point or shut up.
Kanye West didn't say George W. Bush doesn't "like" black people. He said "George Bush does not care about black people", and then hestood there looking stupid after he said it. LMAOOO ... anybody, including Bush, who took that moment seriously is an idiot.
I am so fed up with the liberal media!!!! I've seen Anderson Cooper do the same thing with a woman who was against the mosque being built so close to ground zero. Not everyone in this country is a liberal, I for one, so I resent having it crammed down my throat every day when I watch the news. They should just report the news period.

President Bush appointed more African-American people to his team while in office than any other president had in the history of the United States... look at Clinton's team, barely a one!

George W. Bush as president gave more money to Africa for help with the Aids epidemic and to fight the deadly killer Malaria. He nearly tripled the aid given to that region without barely a mention by the hateful liberal media.
He was actually lauded by none other than humanitarium singer Bono and other nations. Did you hear any thanks from the race hustling brothers Jesse and Al? The congressional black caucus? Any black entertainers or organizations? Of course not.
The real racists are the above mentioned pathetic groups and people who refused to give credit to a decent man soley because they hate his party affiliation. As for Kanye, he is just a street level piece of garbage who lacks any talent.
History will be kind to George W. Bush when all of the current liberal heads of media and college professors are long dead and buried!

LOL, you people need to get a life. The man straight out says the lowest point in his presidency was being insulted by Kanye West??!! No surprise that he was elected then re-elected just to run this country so far in the ground that all you ignorant, racist pigs can now crawl from under your rocks and show your inferior, ignorant, arrogant, miserable selves for who you really are. Kanye West is rich and famous and can give a rats a#s about anything you think, feel or say. GET A LIFE!!! Being black and proud does NOT make you racists...it makes you smart enough to not believe the white-hype and the lies.

It is this kind of thinking that makes me hope that NOBama takes you back to Kenya ....his birth place when he gets rear ended in 2012 !
George Bush is not even close to being a racist, but Kanye West, certainly is. He can take his diamond teeth and fall off the face of the earth, and would not be missed. One less racist on this planet.
