Doing the Math: Numbers Behind the Charlie Sheen-Brooke Mueller Split

Charlie Sheen Brooke Mueller Settlement Can money buy you love? Clearly not for Charlie Sheen. Looking at what his split from Brooke Mueller will set him back, it's worth asking if he did a good or bad job protecting his wealth.

As a divorce attorney, my advice is to never marry if you are not ready or have no plan for marital longevity, and even if you are committed to making your marriage work, protect your assets. And look no further than these mind-boggling dollar amounts to see exactly why. Yes, Sheen will get to keep the bulk of his $75 million fortune, but Mueller does get quite a payday after a year-and-a-half of marriage.

I've read through the 43-page settlement that was filed, and here's what you need to know:

► $55,000 a month in child support for their children until they are at least 18
► 50 percent of the revenues from the Getty Images partnership they made together
► $45,000 in moving costs
► A lump sum payment totaling $757,689
► A 2009 C600 Mercedes
► $1,254,846 for equity in their former home
► One week to use Sheen's timeshare
► $50,000 in attorney's fees

The settlement also gives Sheen a very generous parenting plan without nanny supervision and ensures that both parties will be silent on any alleged drug use or sexual affairs that Charlie may have dabbled in during the marriage.

The parties did have a prenuptial agreement -- signed three days before they wed -- but they had children after the agreement was signed, so additional terms had to be added to the deal to accommodate the kids and some extras for Mueller. All in all, Mueller scored BIG time. But in the wake of their divorce, they leave two very small children who will have to cope with their parents misgivings in a very public way.

Great article--gives insight into the price people may pay for the silence of the other party. What is sad is that the children are the ones who will really pay if his "alleged behavior" is true and he does nothing to deal with his demons....In the real world, I doubt he would have unsupervised parenting time with his children if the "alleged behavior and substance abuse" was true. MONEY TALKS.....

I hope the children are able to live a good life. Charlie is not long for this world, if he continues drinking and drugging it will kill him.He is out of control and his life is unmanageable but he is the only person who can make a change in his life. I wish thewm all well. But I fear he is a dead man walking.

Which is exactly what she was hoping for. Anybody who would marry that train wreck is a gold digger or an idiot. Since she stayed with him after he put a knife to his neck, but decides being with a prostitute is the deal breaker, I think Brooke deserves both titles!

For all that's been said of this divorce, Vikki Ziegler is the only one that i've heard talking about those poor children that are stuck with 2 parents who clearly aren't putting their kids first right now. Thanks for bringing this full circle and addressing the reality of the situation!!!! Couples need to read your book and maybe they'll avoid painful situations like this one!

Sheen isn't a bad man; he's an idiot for sure, but a stinkin' rich idiot who makes terrible life choices.
But he can afford to make mistakes, much more so than any of us regular working stiffs.

Mueller made out like a queen - hopefully she has a shred of humble pie left in her and will use all that boatloads of money on things for good living.

Her twins are a blessing and I hope she realizes that she has made out big time.
Sheen will provide for her and her children forever.
She doesn't have to work or get a real job - ever.
She should get down on both knees and thank the good Lord for her blessings.

You say he 'isn't a bad man' and 'can afford to make mistakes'. Really? I wonder if you'd change your tune when you find out that one of your loved ones was killed because Sheen was driving drunk and/or coked up for the umpteenth time? Surely as a nurse you've seen patients who were victims of drunk drivers. Driving drunk, like he's done more than any of us could possibly guess, is a choice...not a mistake anyone can afford to make.

Plenty of women like these so-called bad boy types regardless of who they hurt, especially the kids. What kid would want to call that chump Daddy? If he was my father I wouldn't even acknowledge his existence.
