Doing the Math: Numbers Behind the Charlie Sheen-Brooke Mueller Split

Charlie Sheen Brooke Mueller Settlement Can money buy you love? Clearly not for Charlie Sheen. Looking at what his split from Brooke Mueller will set him back, it's worth asking if he did a good or bad job protecting his wealth.

As a divorce attorney, my advice is to never marry if you are not ready or have no plan for marital longevity, and even if you are committed to making your marriage work, protect your assets. And look no further than these mind-boggling dollar amounts to see exactly why. Yes, Sheen will get to keep the bulk of his $75 million fortune, but Mueller does get quite a payday after a year-and-a-half of marriage.

I've read through the 43-page settlement that was filed, and here's what you need to know:

► $55,000 a month in child support for their children until they are at least 18
► 50 percent of the revenues from the Getty Images partnership they made together
► $45,000 in moving costs
► A lump sum payment totaling $757,689
► A 2009 C600 Mercedes
► $1,254,846 for equity in their former home
► One week to use Sheen's timeshare
► $50,000 in attorney's fees

The settlement also gives Sheen a very generous parenting plan without nanny supervision and ensures that both parties will be silent on any alleged drug use or sexual affairs that Charlie may have dabbled in during the marriage.

The parties did have a prenuptial agreement -- signed three days before they wed -- but they had children after the agreement was signed, so additional terms had to be added to the deal to accommodate the kids and some extras for Mueller. All in all, Mueller scored BIG time. But in the wake of their divorce, they leave two very small children who will have to cope with their parents misgivings in a very public way.

Honestly, this story is so sad! I agree with Amy K, Vikki brings to light the fact that the twins born of these two celebrities, who are out of control and really don't seem to care about anything but their own bank accounts and/or their next opportunity to party, are being put into a situation that may likely cause them harm, whether physical or mental. Only time will tell......Charlie, don't have anymore kids, you haven't and probably never will grow up as it is!

Most women would like the financial security but that does not replace having both parents in the home with you, mental support, emotional support. He will not to able to give that to his kids, because he is a jerk money does not replace a dad. Anybody can be a father, but it takes a man to be a dad

I totally agree with Ms. Ziegler's advice. I think celebrities should be as proactive before the marriage as they are cut throat after the marriage. If people were smart and obtained the advice of a professional like Ms. Ziegler before they got married I believe it would be beneficial to the parties and to the children of the marriage because if everything is spelled out before hand there is nothing to fight over. Kids always get lost in a bitter divorce which is sad. I think we are lucky to have lawyers like Ms. Ziegler out there who are not afraid to speak their mind and help people! Way to go!!

Why doesn't Charlie's dad weigh in on his son's recent activity? We've seen his dad talk to the press about Charlie years ago, it seemed like that helped Charlie get straightened out, what did help Charlie get straight for a while? I'd love to hear how his dad feels about what has gone on with Charlie's latest wife and kids and their split, and how he feels about his call girls and trantrum once again, please let us know. Why are you blaming the woman....she had twins after the pre-nupt was signed...as the story said, the changes that were made were for the children, not the mother....believe me if there had been no pre-nupt she would have received a lot more..california is a state where everything is 50/50, and she did not get anywhere near that... and as for her staying around after December, she had to wait for the divorce, but never did I see they were living together....I mean they were not even in the same room at the hotel....

People need to read more carefully...he has to take care of the children, and I do think it says the extra money stops when the children are 18.
