Gary Collins Wanted in Alleged Hit-and-Run Incident

Look out Jackson town, Gary Collins is behind the wheel. The former 'Hour Magazine' host, who has a few DUI's on his record, is
accused of hitting a woman and her child with his Jeep on Tuesday and leaving the scene before police arrived.
Cheryl Hales told police that she and her family were at a red light when a white Jeep slammed into the back of her car, Jackson police spokeswoman Colendula Green said. As the Jeep zoomed away, another witness took down the license plate number, which was tied to the 71-year-old Collins.
A warrant has been issued for the TV host's arrest for leaving the scene, but as of Wednesday night, he had not been arrested.
No injuries were reported and alcohol has not been immediately suspected, but Hales' husband told local affiliate WAPT that he smelled something on Collins' breath.
"He wasn't concerned for my wife's well-being," Hales said. "He wasn't concerned for my child's well-being. He simply walked over got in his vehicle and left."
According to a
TMZ source, Collins got out of his car "clearly intoxicated" and threw his hands up in the air, asking, "What are we waiting for?"
Collins, who used to host the Miss America pageant, has been arrested three times in ten years and served a four-day jail sentence in 2004. Last year, he pleaded no contest to charges of driving a motor home intoxicated and received 120 days of house arrest.
The TV host is married to Mississippi native Mary Ann Mobley, who grew up in nearby Brandon.

So because he is a celebrity we let him drive until he kills someone. REAL SMART! In New Jersey when convicted of dui or dwi you lose your license and when you get it back they put one of those breath thingies in the car so it wont start if you have been drinking. But hey after all he is a celebrity and like pro athletes and politicians these people have a different set of laws.

My brother in law got popped twice and did ninety days. Every minute of it. Good news, he quit drinking.
House arrest does nothing for an alcholic. There's nothing like three months in the jug to straighten one out.I love this , So does My boyfriend .he is almost 11year older than me .i met him via agegapsingl es.c 'om a nice place for seeking age le ss love.which gives you a chance to make your life better and open opportunities for you to meet the attractive young girls and treat you like a king. Maybe you wanna check it out or tell your friends.. Just love it
And who was the judge that thought 120 days of house arrest last year would teach this habitual drunken driver a real good lesson? What was he smoking? Has he been kicked off the bench yet?
This is nothing new. He is a celeb, they do not have the same rules as everyday people do. No it is not right, not right at all, but unforunateley money buys a lot of things.......witnesses, juries, judges, cops etc etc.
They DO have a different set of laws. Have you learned nothing, kpingzing? Just look at the Lindsay Lohan case!
Another example of a celebrity getting off easy. He should have had his drivers license and vehicle taken away the FIRST time it happened. He obviously doesn't care about the safety of others. That is a blatant crime!!!Get him off the streets, behind bars and sobered up!!!!

It's time they start throwing these so called stars in jail for some real time, and with the general population.
Maybe they would stop then

It's true. First time offenders 30 days in jail. Those are tax dollars I would gladly pay. That would definitely make them think before driving drunk. If not they don't deserve the privilige of driving. Sick of reading about all the tragedies & deaths caused by these sick selfish people.
The fact that Collins isn't in jail for a long stay probably has little to do with his celebrity status or even his age. As a country, we fail to properly punish drunk drivers, period. Most often when I hear of a fatality at the hands of a drunk driver his or her history shows multiple previous citations. A car with a drunk behind the wheel is a lethal weapon. If Collins was in the habit of going to the local mall and firing off a few rounds he would be under the jail. Dead is dead no matter what weapon the idiot is using when he's acting foolishly. Tougher laws, always inforced, no exceptions! Collins, I've always admired you and your wife. I'm shocked at your behavior. Clean up your act!

You probably admire Gary Collins because he's another greedy republican sot who believes Jesus gives him an automatic forgiveness. This drunk appears on late night informercials that rob the naive & gulible suckers who buy this crap. Clean up your own life !
Let's face it, have never met an Irishman
who didn't drink.

Moron, I'm Irish, so's my whole family, don't drink. What other stereotypes do you want to spew? Perhaps you are Polish?
Actually, I did. That would be my father. I drink though, and you can drink too from my faucet.
Maybe Gary didn't want to lose his license, due to his old age. Who knows?

Feel sorry for his problems. Remember him from years ago and he came across as such a nice guy. He is obviously dealing with some demons and issues. Hope he does not end up driving drunk killing himself and others.

Cynthia, was being "polite". Now I'll say to you [not hard to figure you're Irish] like it is. Never met an Irishman who didn't drink like a drunkin' sailor. Now, just speaking the truth...

Now we are going to get nasty ?!? Married 37 years to a sailor. He's never had a drink, neither have a lot of other sailors. I know that "drunken sailors" is just a phrase that has been around for decades and probably penned by someone being funny. Probably an Army or Air Force veteran. :)
Holy Crap!
He's still Alive?
Somebody check his pulse, he may be a Zombie!

He's been arrested 3 times in 10 years and pleaded no contest (i.e. - guilty but not saying so). A few days in jail. Sorry state for law enforcement when you let people above the law. What are you waiting for, when he runs some kid over and kills?
