Vanessa Minnillo Flashes Engagement Ring

Some birthday presents really are the icing on the cake.

'True Beauty' host Vanessa Minnillo touched down for a Mexican vacation on Nov. 5 flashing a little pre-30th birthday bling: her new engagement ring from Nick Lachey.

The lovebird Scorpios, who share the same Nov. 9 birthday and have been dating since 2006, announced their engagement via Lachey's Twitter account.

"If anyone's heard the rumors of my engagement they are absolutely true," the singer, who turns 37 next week, tweeted. "Vanessa and I couldn't be happier. Thanks for all the love."

The ring appears to be a whopper -- a platinum-set, Asscher-cut diamond with trapezoids on the side from designer Bader & Garrin, according to Us Weekly.

A source tells the mag Minnillo was very happy with the ice: "It's big and beautiful. She loves it."

This will be the first marriage for Minnillo, a former Miss Teen USA, and the second for Lachey, whose high-profile 2002-'06 marriage to Jessica Simpson was chronicled in the MTV hit reality series 'Newlyweds.'

Vanessa strikes me as very fake and materialistic. A girl like her needs to have a big ring to show off. Nick must of had to save up for it all these years. At least Jessica makes her own money. Does Vanessa even have her own car?

Nick was dumped by Jessica, not the other way around. Meanwhile Jessica is fatter and nobody cares about her music. Vanessa has hosted several shows of her own and she is much hotter than Jess. Who's the idiot now, cjb?

If you have such a problem with the celebrity news reported on a celebrity news/gossip site, then don't go on it. wow that was really hard to figure out, wasn't it?

I remember reading an article on a website a year or two ago that Vanessa wanted a large rock, or she'd turn him down. She does seem materialistic. But hopefully for Nick's sake, she's a good fit for him and smarter than his first wife.
