'Dancing' Star Karina Smirnoff Engaged

Now here's a bride who won't be worrying about her footwork during the first dance.

Karina Smirnoff, 32, has revealed that she got engaged last month to her boyfriend, pro baseball pitcher Brad Penny, also 32.

The 'Dancing with the Stars' veteran -- who partnered with Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino this season, but recently got eliminated -- was celebrating the fifth anniversary of Tao Las Vegas on Saturday when she went public with the news, according to People.com.

"I'm marrying a Southern gentleman," Smirnoff said of her Oklahoma-born fiance, who proposed on one knee at a restaurant with a 4.5 carat diamond ring. Smirnoff says they've been engaged since Oct. 4.

A native of the Ukraine, Smirnoff joined 'Dancing with the Stars' during season 3, when she was paired with Mario Lopez. Their collaboration blossomed into a two-year romance, ending in 2008. That year, she began a whirlwind relationship with co-star (and fellow Ukrainian) Maksim Chmerkovskiy; the dancers rang in 2009 by announcing their engagement on New Year's, but split nine months later.

In the ballroom, Smirnoff's other 'DWTS' partners have included Aaron Carter, Rocco DiSpirito and Billy Ray Cyrus.

Reflecting on the choice to keep her engagement a secret at first, Smirnoff says, "We kept it quiet because my family is in New York and Brad's family is in Oklahoma, so we kind of wanted them to come out and celebrate and be a family first, before we let the cat out of the bag."

I have heard that Karina is not only an exceptional pro dancer, she also has a law degree (don't know if in US or Ukraine). Brains, beauty, discipline, and success. Kudos. I dont get it... Penny cant run around the block twice, is perhaps the worst dancer in history, and cant be this star struck... She must really suck it properly... Penny is going to get FLEECED on this deal... mark my words !
