Florida Gov. Charlie Crist Might Finally Pardon Jim Morrison

Although Republican Florida Gov. Charlie Crist lost his bid for re-election on Nov. 2, he still has some big plans on his agenda to consider before stepping down -- like pardoning famed rocker Jim Morrison, who's been dead for 39 years. Crist told
The Hill that he might pardon the former lead singer of The Doors for felony and misdemeanor charges he earned in Miami in 1969.
"Candidly, it's something that I haven't given a lot of thought to, but it's something I'm willing to look into in the time I have left," Crist said. "Anything is possible."
The rock 'n' roll legend, who died at age 27, was convicted of profanity and indecent exposure at a concert 41 years ago. Although Morrison went to trial, he never served time in prison and died in a bathtub in Paris two years later.
Doors fans have labored to get Florida to pardon Morrison for years, and back in 2007, Crist acknowledged the issue, saying, "There was some doubt how solid the case was." This is the first time since then that Crist has commented on it, but this time he's on a clock.
If Crist pardons Morrison, it would be the second high-profile pardoning of a rock artist this year. Back in April, Pope Benedict XVI
pardoned The Beatles for John Lennon saying the group was bigger than Jesus.

After almost 40 years of Jim being dead why bring this all up again??? Let the dead rest in peace. Obviously it wasn't that big a deal for Jim. Look at people on stage now, practically naked and no one gives them a second look or cares!

Actually ... it was a big deal for Morrison. There was going to be an appeal, but overturning the conviction was hardly a sure thing. In fact, that's part of the reason he went to Paris. (France doesn't have an extradition treaty with the U.S. for those kinds of crimes, which is part of the reason Polanski went to France, as well.)
Morrison was up for hard time in Rayford prison. And he was scared. The transcripts of the trial are available; those, coupled with the files the FBI had on Morrison, it's not hard to deduce that he was railroaded. The fix was in.
Overturning the conviction at this point would be a nice acknowledgment of the American justice system trampling the rights of one of its citizens, just because they didn't like the ends to which he applied his celebrity. (See the case of Lenny Bruce, as well -- very similar, pardon and all ....)
Charlie Crist should pardon himself for being a pathetic, wishy-washy, flip-flopping fake-marriaged gay who proves again and again he'll do anything to get elected.I love this , So does My boyfriend .he is almost 11year older than me .i met him via agegapsingl es.c 'om a nice place for seeking age le ss love.which gives you a chance to make your life better and open opportunities for you to meet the attractive young girls and treat you like a king. We need to let new governors void pardons of lame duck governors.

This lapsed Catholic girl is more concerned with the Pope pardoning John Lennon for an off hand remark. Wherever he is, I'm sure Lennon got a good laugh out of that.

YES YES YES, totally agree.
Who proof reads this garbage? I too would like to see people focus on something that will benefit the public. Lets get rid of this corruption, I know that it is probably unconstitutional but sheriff's agency use it, how about all officials of government take annual polygraphs with their physicals to ensure of their honesty!

I was at the Dinner Key theater when Jim supposedly exposed himself. He was very drunk and suggestive but turned toward the back of the stage. If anyone saw his winkie, it could have only been the cops, and they were very bad about lying at the time.
I was arrested at a gay bar called the Annex, north of the Dinner Key. I was said to be doing lewd things. This was one of several times the South Florida NaziCops lied and beat up patrons. The owner said he was behind on payments to cops.
I believed him.
Jim had a BF in Paris. As the song "Soft Parade" says, "...making love with your neighbor... 'til his wife gets home." Pigs of the era, and they were, hated everyone who was different. Oh I just saw the election results. Nothing has changed in attitude, but they do have to let us walk the streets now.
Oops, I just read the news. They still shoot blacks. "Honest, I thought it was my Taser" GMABMFAs
