Dina Lohan Calls Lindsay's Rehab 'Life-Changing'

Dina Lohan visited NBC's 'Today Show' this morning after spending time at the Betty Ford Center, where her daughter Lindsay Lohan is back in rehab. Dina called the facility "life-changing" for Lindsay and an "amazing place."

Matt Lauer asked Dina, who spent two weeks in family sessions at the clinic, about Lindsay's condition. "Happy, relaxed. She's just a different person," Dina answered. "She's been in a couple facilities, but this one, to me, has really changed her. They get into your psyche and your family and they bring the problem to the surface."

Lauer and Lohan sparred the last time Dina stopped by 'Today.' "Dina felt ambushed by Matt," a family friend told PopEater after the August appearance. "She was surprised how many tough questions he asked."

Today, Lauer grilled the 48-year-old Dina again, though the air was devoid of contention: "When the judge said [Lindsay] needed to go here and sent her, he said to her in no uncertain terms, 'You're an addict,'" Lauer said. "Does Lindsay fully get that?"

"Yes," Dina answered. "And this teaches you that you are, and she's young. I thank God that he didn't incarcerate her because that wouldn't have helped her. And being so young, admitting that can only help her sobriety in the future."

Dina also said she was comfortable with the concept that her 24-year-old daughter is an addict. "We take it one day at a time. Addiction is difficult. I don't know, I don't have a crystal ball. I pray hard."

Dina says Lindsay wants to start her own rehabilitation facilities for other young people. She also acknowledged her daughter's aim to return to film.

Lauer asked if Dina would encourage another early release for Lindsay or if the full time in rehab was due. "Lindsay wants to stay," Dina said. "She's learning the trigger points and why she turns to drugs or addiction. It's a lifelong journey."

The 'Today' interview came hours after news of Lindsay Lohan's reunion with father Michael Lohan, Dina's ex-husband, at the Betty Ford Center. The reunion was reportedly "emotional," with "hugs, kisses, even a few tears."

So what already? Don't these people have something better to do then to go on national TV and add more publicity to an already over publicized situation that is none of anyone's business? Better yet, doesn't the Today Show have stories that are actually newsworthy to televise?

Why the rehab place even allows these two wastoids as parents in to see her is beyond me. She needs to be in rehab for a very long time and be protected from these two long before they are allowed access to her. Why is this poor excuse for a mother back on television again?

Hurray for Lindsay and her mother. Finally entering and staying in a real treatment center NOT a spa or spin dry. Betty Ford is considered number one in the country because of the education, counseling, and family program. If she takes the tools that Betty Ford clinic gives her and follows up with a 12 step program there is a very good chance that she will stay clean and sober.

Here we go...yet again. Mother will say anything to protect her daughter. It would be fine if this happened 3 years ago. Now, I'm not so sure. To me it seems as if they both play off each other with no concern for anything but getting Lindsay out of rehab. I can't say the father is perfect in all of this but at least he tries. If Lindsay were to get back in my good graces she would have to go on the next episode of survivor...and survive! Perhaps have both Lindsay and her mother go on survivor?

Can someone tell me why Dina Lohan was never arrested or even investigated for partying with her underage daughter? Dina Lohan set the trap for her daughter's addiction problems. Good parenting might have helped enormously. Instead, here is one of the world's worst mothers getting the star treatment from a fawning Matt Lauer. I can just imagine the happy chat Lauer would have with Hitler: "Shame about that Jewish business, but how about those Olympic games in Munich?"

Sounds like the PR folks have finally progammed that pea brained mother to at least say the right words and to stop defending the indefensible actions of she and her crippled daughter. Only the future will tell but the roots of this problem go much deeper that these shallow people are capable of looking or seeing. Good luck but don't hold your breath.
