When Jessica Alba trashed on movie scripts -- apparently "good actors never use [them]" -- in the December issue of Elle, it didn't take long for a screenwriter to hit back. John August, writer of 'Big Fish' and 'Charlie's Angels,' wrote a scathing blog post in response to Alba's insistence that actors ignore the script unless it's "amazing writing.""Following your logic, you've never been in a movie with good actors and amazing writing," August wrote.
In the Elle interview, Alba said the following: "Good actors never use the script unless it's amazing writing. All the good actors I've worked with, they all say whatever they want to say." August took apart those two sentences and turned around a layered and vicious attack on Alba.
"You're setting dangerous expectations," August said. "So if an aspiring actor wishes to be 'good,' she should say whatever she wants to say? That's pretty terrible advice."

Good for John August! He speaks his mind and the truth.

John August is out of his mind. Both movies cited in the article were gigantic pieces of crap. He looks like a big silly boy. Take yer big chin and jog on there John buddy. And if Alba is such a "non actor" why do care about what she says?

Daniel Wallace from Chapel Hill NC wrote the book "Big Fish"... that's where the real writing happened.

I've never cared for Jessica Alba; she is way too full of herself! she's a terrible actor and is ok looking, but nothing that great. Glad August put her in her place.

Jessica Alba: a beautiful moron.

And all actors must be in agreement that indeed, the writing is excellent. Impromptu is not the same as altering a script that a professional writes.

I think it's kind of funny that the guy who wrote 'Charlie's Angels' feels he's qualified to judge anyone on good writing.

Alba is a hollywood wannabe, like kelly Osborne, No talent. Withhout all the makeup, she looks like anyone else. nothing special, but the look at me attitude ruins anything likable about her. too bad.

Jessica Alba? Since when has she ever done a decent film???? She's a horrible actress that NO ONE cares about. Seriously.

LOL, Jessica speaks!???!?!?!?
She can barely act.

She doesn't get good scripts because she is a horrible actress. She can only depend on her looks. That is why she gets cheeseball roles. A good writer wouldn't trust her with a serious role.

she should walk a finer line in talking about writers and directors.look what happened to megan fox.it didnt kill her but she lost a ton of money with the tr franchise.i think she said them in jest, but were taken way out of context.so alba, think before you bury yourself.

A screenwriter with no talent is picking apart an actress with no talent? Isn't this a bit redundant? Although I wouldn't say he "viciously attacked her" either, he was pretty well spoken.

Alba can't act.Like many like her,she lucked out with looks and being at the right place at the right time.As real ACTING goes, she's lost in a lost world
