'Dancing With the Stars' Seeking Same-Sex Couple

When the Israeli edition of 'Dancing With The Stars' confirmed it would feature its first-ever same-sex couple, the outpouring of media attention caught the eye of the producers of the American version. Now, sources tell me the US edition of the worldwide dance phenomenon is actively looking to do the same.

"The show is definitely looking for a trick for its next edition that will go up against 'American Idol,'" a 'Dancing' insider tells me. "What better than to have a same-sex couple dancing together? That would certainly get more press than even Jennifer Lopez could drum up."

It's true the show does know a thing or two about stunt casting. Learning from recent stars Kate Gosselin and Bristol Palin, the producers have seen first hand how a casting controversy can bring in the viewers.

"Nothing would be as sensational as two beautiful women dancing together," a TV expert tells me. "Two men would be less accepted as two gorgeous ladies, that is why the producers' first choice is Portia de Rossi, who is married to Ellen DeGeneres."

Although Portia has not been approached yet with the idea, several sources close with casting tell me it's one name that keeps coming up over and over again.

"Portia is perfect because she is openly gay and happily married to her wife, who happens to be one of America's most loved celebrities," a source tells me. "She is not controversial like Rosie and would be an inspiration to gay teens throughout the country."

I think it's genius!

Why can't it just be an entertaining show? I know that this show manipulates the audience (what with the boo-hooing and the injuries and the whining) but it is a show. I don't know if I want to watch two same sex people dancing. Don't know how I feel about this. Probably leaning more to no to the whole idea. Silver Fox

Each time I watch it I see opposite gender couples dancing. However I use my remote to change the channel to something more appropriate for my family. Rather simple, isn't it?

I frankly I just won't watch. This is political, and they are furthering tring to desensitise people to the situation. It won't affect me, because I will stop watching.

Who cares. Everyone that is against ANYTHING that has to do with the same sex such as this really needs to evaluate themselves. Last time I checked, it is not biblically correct to judge others. If you dont want to watch then dont watch. I am sure the show's ratings would not suffer due to judgemental people like you making such a dam difference over the same sex. If people want to dance together or anything else for that matter, it is NO ONES BUSINESS BUT THIER OWN. Take that to heart and NEVER forget it. After all we could care less what you judgemental people think and it olny describes what kind of person you really are!! Maybe people need to worry about themselves instead of others. GET OVER IT!!!!!

I will definately not be watching if they have same sex couples dancing. I didn't watch American Idol when Ellen was a judge. I'm sure it makes no dofference to the network/producers if I choose to watch something else but I believe there's a lot more viewers out there that feel as I do.

Sue your being judgemental I have no problem with women dancing with other women I have seen it on the dance floor at the clubs so people of the same sex do dance with each other. I am sad because I firmly believe that the sexual acts of homosexuals are sins. I understand that people are born with these attractions to same sex but there are people out there who are attracted to goats and small children as well, should I be tolerant of that type of love as well? I do not judge homosexuals and am not saying they are evil and will go to hell, I am not God, what I am saying is that all people have choices to make and if you make a choice that sins against God and nature then don't get huffy when someone points it out to ya! Watching this show brings a type of joy to people that is innocent and pure and to have a same sex couple throws the bedroom on the screen and I don't want to see it!
